This may seem like a dumb question but ive never owned a v8 anything so i have no idea what a 2000lbs trailer would do.
I need to tow a trailer.. Trailer is from uhual.
My friend is willing to tow my stuff down there all i gotta do is pay for gas. What would be cheaper?
Option 1. Drop trailer off in ohio
Trailer = 2000lbs EMPTY
Truck 1500ram 2wd v8
One way trip 191.4 miles, 2 hr 55 min
Drop trailer off there $120
Option 2. Take trailer back to MI
Trailer = 2000lbs EMPTY
Truck 1500ram 2wd v8
Two way trip382.8 miles, 5 hr
bring trailer back $30
So do you think it would cost $90 or more in gas to bring the trailer back???

Seeing as you need to return the truck, IDK if you would use around 24 extra gallons of gas towing the trailer back the 191 miles. That would be nearly an 8 mpg decrease. You really need to see what it uses over the norm, on the way there. It should do better on the way back.
Given most of your travel would be constant speed highway, it shouldn't be too bad once you are rolling, unless it is an enclosed trailer. That is the more important part, than weight. If it is enclosed, it will be like a parachute behind you. Then it is going to suck gas empty or full. A flatbed trailer, not so much, (as long as the running gear is straight.)
I had bought an enclosed home made trailer, and it is maybe 1000 lbs, but it is no less square than one of those U Hauls. It was all my XJ would do to get over 45 mph with that thing behind it. Thankfully I only bought it for storage, because It would suck to have to use it for a trailer. If the truck has a cap on it, that would help a bit, to streamline things. Or if the box isn't too tall.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

Hell, thats one $80 tank in my Ford, round trip.
In a half ton gasser, Id bring money for 3 tanks, but probably would only need a tank and a half, maybe two. Depends on the trailer as said above, and if you're doing the legal speed, or something stupid.
