Upper Radiator Hose Hard Pipe

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

I know they make them for the Srt's just curious if anyone has tried to fit one on a neon. I also have an r/t mag intake so not sure if clearance will be an issue. Thanks

Your thermostat outlet has a far different angle than ours and its further over to the left. IMO it won't work properly, the metal wouldn't be bent right and would have to sit above the first runner on the intake. If it sat that high (these pipes are angled) it wouldn't meet the water outlet properly. You could try it, but here's why I don't think it would work:

IIRC there is a member on here that did it awhile back. Im sure you could do it by just buying the pipe and cutting your stock hose and getting new clamps.

I was looking into one also.. I think that you can make it work, but you will have to alot of modifying to make it fit.

Or you could do an SRT swap and then it would work perfectly. :D

That's not the SRT-4 pipe....at least not the JMB one the JMB one will not work. That looks like a different piece of piping. FYI the one you're looking at on Ebay is sold at Home Depot for like....$9.
plumbing section of HD(Home Depot)........its a metal 1.5 (L-shape) pipe.

part # H803-1 tailpiece oh & get some SS clamps
Read and heed: http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f69/hom ... pe-489736/

If you do get it to work, don't try running worm clamps with it use t-bolts. If you don't use them, it WILL leak (prior experience). I would measure your engine bay first since you will need a longer pipe to clear it, but Home Depot is your friend.

I was thinking that. The only issue I have is the ones Ive seen have the little ridge in them to help keep the hoses from sliding off. Thats what I was curious about. Wondering if there is a way to mock that ridge then everyone could make their own. LOL
There are some nice pics there on srt forums.

its a idea that has been going around for awhile. it looks pretty cool, plus most neon owners love ghetto mods

It looks like the JMB pipe to me, and I don't see why the JMB pipe would not work? All you need is just cut the hose to fit to proper lenght.

I think they're 1.75" to be honest. I ended up using constant torques because I was sick of the leaking, these pipes are a pain in the ass.

It shouldn't look like one to you. The JMB pipe is angled, this is a flat piece of pipe. The JMB pipe also has curves where it meets the hoses, the home depot one does not.

Mike: The JMB one has the ridges too

yes but if you look carefully she OWNS one on her pink srt, so going from owning one, to "knowing" someone who owns one i would believe her, and to me it looks nothing like the JMB piece

There was a member that was going to make an aluminum one around last April or so, but it kind of fizzled out, so I won't bother linking it.

There are no pics, or anything that will help this discussion.

I figure if he doesn't want to do it, I won't link the thread, so he isn't being pestered...

As for a lip/bead for hose retention, you need something like THIS

But unless you have/have access to one, it isn't really worth it.
