keep my car or trade in for a new one??

so this weekend went drivin around some dealerships and saw a kia soul the the wife likes, its a 3 of 4 limited special editions, its fully loaded full leather nice looking stock 18" rims , its the closest looking to the burner concept.
here is the kia soul burner

and here is the kia soul shadow dragon

so should i get this and trade in my mini cooper?

I say keep the mini cooper if its almost paid off/ is paid off. But if you can trade it in and get a good amount for it, I say go for it.

You guys crack me up with your import hate.

I personally have ridden in a couple Souls, and they are BAMF little cars. Lots of options, a comfy ride, solid MPGs. I, however, would love a Mini and wouldn't get rid of mine unless it was killing me with a monthly payment.

that KIA is pretty cool, i was looking into a nissan cube, before i bought the NYG. pretty nice little cars. but i dont thik i would ditch a mini for one.

there gunna give me 9000 for it and monthly payment of 260, my monthly payments now is 95 for the mini but i just a got a new trany put in it and cost 8000 warranty cover all but 2000 and if the motor goes it will cost bout the same but there is only 5000 left on the warranty and i have to go 60 miles away to get it serviced. the pics dont do it justice it looks way better in person

they cant rebuild the trans they have to order a new one from germany + labor=8000, sometimes the motor feels weird and feels like its going to stall, it has 74xxx miles on it so its getting up there. i think im going to do it and trade i love the mini but i think its time to let it go

Both cars are imports so I can't see why one would be better than another. Seeing that my late father risked his life in a war that still hasn't been settled (the two Koreas), I would admit to being very prejudiced against anything made in Korea.

I don't see how anyone could actually like the Soul or the Cube. They are ugly as hell. I say keep the Mini, but you say it's getting up there in miles? 74K seems low to me, but eh, it's your money, you could throw it out the window for all I care.

did you get the mini new? ya 74 doesnt seem that much for blowing a trans up and having a motor about to go!

Your point being? I could give two shits about manufacturers. I was saying I've driven both of these cars, and they are superior to the Neon IMO. Also, I've got a soft spot for Minis, so I'd have a tough time giving up a Mini for a Soul.

Gramps, you're kidding me right? You realize Kia is built in South Korea right, the side that your father, and my grandfather fought for? They are currently building a plant in West Point, GA.

Just for a warranty/peace of mind standpoint, I'd look into getting the Kia. My dad has driven nothing but Hyundai (Hyundai builds Kia) since 1990, and has had no major problems. My mom currently has an 04 Kia with 60K miles, no issues.

My dad's cars:
88 excel (retired at 120K)
92 elantra - Timing belt went at 140K
00 Sonata - He got too old for the 5 speed and traded it in
03 XG350 - He wrecked it (got hit in the driver's front by a dump truck, no issues)
06 Sonata - Kickin it (runs 16.0's and gets 27MPG highway)

Honestly, I like the Soul, and I would TOTALLY drive one into the ground. However, my 05 is paid off, and I can work on it.

a new trans at like 65 000 that costs $8000 to fix and a motor going at 74000 doesn't sound more superior to me... plus an original price that is about double a Neon... not superior. I still like minis though for some reason...
