When was my Neon built?

Post by Forest Green 2k » Wed Feb 24, 2010 3:19 pm

How can I tell when my 2000 Neon was built? I'm trying to order some parts and I have two options, one for Neons built before October 2000 and one for Neons built after October 2000.

Thanks!

BTW, it's for an exhaust mid-section. Going from my downpipe to my muffler.

If you want to PM me the last 8 digits of your VIN, I can tell you the production date.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Look on the side of the drivers door. There will be a tag.

He welded a 1gn door on it.

Oops! I gave away your secret 2 door 2gn. :slap:

Sorry!

A better question/answer would be, does the VIN match sticker, to dash?

OP, you could always have the end of the cat cut off and a 2.25 to 2.25 coupler welded on, and just use the (late) '01 up mid pipe. The only difference, is the newer mid pipes are 2.25" to the axle bend. Then they go to 2" at the coupling for the muffler.

Unless it is an R/T mid pipe. But good luck finding one (R/T) in the aftermarket. And you don't want to pay dealer price.

Even tho it states the October '00 change, a lot of '01s still use the '00 cat/mid pipe.

Mine was the 2" unit.

I found out mine was built before then and bought the 2 inch piping. I'm gonna make a custom side-exit with a glasspack and OBX short tube header, hopefully I don't lose power.

Well, I didn't say you would gain power either. :D
It is just going to make more noise. So you just won't hear the bog after a while.

Edit: is your car ATX, or MTX? Because ATX is going to really sound like one crappy long fart while accelerating.
