^Yeah Dante. He has LED strips he made mounted above the rear window and the windshield. And yeah, it was fun. Long, hard days, but fun. We were actually saying, "I wish Dante lived closer!"

It's fun to get on a neon ripped completely apart. I get to learn a lot about how it all comes apart and goes back together. I think the sweetest moment was after we got the dash/wiring back in, changed the oil, plugs, wires, cranked it over by hand a few turns then turned the key and it started right up, no codes, sounded perfect! Made all the hard work worth it. It was the first time it ran in 9 months.Danteneon wrote:![]()
The work you guys are doing is just the stuff I love to do
PS Matt - I think you forgot to post some pics. I remember "posing" for quite a few

Yep. I have those at the front and rear of the headliner. The ones in the rear don't do too much, but the ones in the front light up the front of the cabin very well, ask crystal, she's seen the pics, lol...

Here you can see the plastic we placed on the interior to catch any expanding foam drippings...

Shot of the rear part of the roof...

Those were trimmed off after they hardened.
Here's the new(ish) front crash bar w/ new hardware. We coated the threads of the bolts in axle grease so they wont rust to shit quickly...

tonight i made a new harness to connect from the factory radio harness to the amplifier in the trunk and the HD tuner under the passenger seat. The factory +12v, ground, and switched ignition go to the tuner, and the speaker lines run to the rear to the amp. i'll be installing it tomorrow.

so far today i got that new harness ran and i'm workin on tucking all of the wires for the carpc under the carpet. i'm also starting to ziptie all of the wires inside the carpc together to clean things up a bit.
i'm going to try to have the integration stuff wired up and working tonight.
I tested the shutdown timer relay last night to make sure the car will stay running after i turn the key off. I did this by manually grounding the relay's coil to ground to turn it on, then turned the car off and it kept running. only thing that happens is after a few seconds, the airbag light comes on, which means while the key's off, that circuit loses power, which isnt a big deal, i just want the car to keep running, which it does. This will be useful for things like in the summer if i want to get the AC going without leaving the keys in the car, or if i have to run into a store for just a few minutes, i wont have to shut the car off and then turn it back on... Later this will be also used as a turbo timer once i have boost someday.
I'll post pics in a little bit.

ok, sorry the pics are a lil late....
Here's the carpc up and running in the car

This is the amplifier harness I mentioned before

This end plugs into the stock radio harness

This plugs into the Directed HD Tuner under the passenger seat

These are opposing connectors so that I can tell between Front/Rear speaker lines.

Tonight I did some more debugging of the software. I got the automatic screen dimmer script working, so now the screen will automatically dim based on the amount of light that the photosensor sees. Debugging this will also help me to write the Automatic Headlights script. All I have to do is obtain some sort of deep tinted dome to put over the photosensor to make it much much less sensitive. Once Cheri's able to be pulled out of the garage, I'll set her and Isabella (the durango) side by side and as the sun starts to set, I'll have both cars running and monitor the photosensor's reading and make note of the value when Isabella's headlights turn on.
Tomorrow I have to double at work, so I wont get to work on her at all tomorrow.
More to come.
