Ground control?

Post by vielecustoms » Fri Feb 26, 2010 8:31 am

I found out the slip on coilovers are ground control's. Is there any way to adjust them with out a wrench? or is there somewhere I can order a wrench for them? I need to lift the car so that it is not bottoming out. I plan on some new struts and springs soon...

Groud Control's == a fancy name for Ebay crappy slip on coils

anyways. from what i have read before it doesnt matter if you do adjust it higher you are still going to bottom out beacuse they are bassically crap. a wrench ?? well i dont think theres anywhere you can buy the wrench at. maybe ebay. who knows.

not disagreeing with you there. these things are garbage, the previous owner put them on the fronts are adjusted all the way down, the rear is just over half way down. the car basically rides on the bump stops, it was not too bad in the summer, but since the winter kicked in and all the frost heaves and crap the springs suck ass!

I went to progress's site and they only have em for srt's and 1gn so there could be a big part of the problem.

I'm planning on new tokico struts and either progress or tien springs Very soon.

well if there actual ground controls, there not ebay garbage, there 400 bucks new and you pair them with a set of re-valved konis. that set-up will be better than any coilover setup you are going to buy. i ran them for awhile on my 1gn track car, handling was amazing.

they look like these Image just a little dirty and aged. I will try to get a pic while I take a shot at adjusting them. from what I've read (on a Honda forum no less ) is they do not need a wrench, just jack up the car loosen the locking screw and they should turn up or down.

if there ground controls, you pair them with a set of koni inserts and you got some great suspension, as for turn them by hand. yes, if there not seized, but it sounds like they are.

Actually Sport Compact Car Magazine put these on Koni yellows for their 1st gen project and they loved them. But they also said it was a VERY VERY bumpy ride.

If I recall correctly they had the Konis revalved, or had custom spring rates. It was one or the other I just cant remember which.

meh they are seized up, so they'll hit the dumpster as soon as I get some new springs. I'm thinking about going with the OEM springs and struts for now, I'm losing interest in the car and it will more than likely become a daily beater once my truck is finished.

My problem was that these were put on the car in '02 SRT was not out till '03? so they would have to be 1gn springs so they would not be tall / heavy enough? (this car was dropped, wheels, body kit and magnaflow catback before the engine was broken in. previous owner had gotten a check from a small fender bender from the insurance all the damage done was cosmetic so they blew it all on ebay parts

if they are siezed you could let them sit in some kerosene, it should help loosen them up.

right but the SRT uses the same chasis as the 00-02. i have srt coilover on my 05 but they will still fit the 00-02
as far as 1gn springs go i don't know what you're asking but they will drop the car a little (but i have never put 1gn springs on a 2gn)
