Traction Control off rewire?
Traction Control off rewire?
I currently have a 2001 Neon RT and my trac control switch has blown. I always turn it off when I drive and I figure instead of buying a new switch maybe I could rewire it so that it is always off.
Can anyone provide some help?
Edit
I did find this info, in another post.
"4671672AA is correct.....$24.85msrp
As for the traction control switch pigtail your SOL, but here is the pinout:
CAV Circuit Function
1 - -
2 RD/YL TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH SENSE
3 BK GROUND
4 OR PANEL LAMPS DRIVER"

So, I take it automatically comes on at startup?
And the switch grounds the PCM's TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH SENSE wire to cancel it.
Not sure what it will do if ti is permanently grounded. Maybe nothing. just not engage Trac control.
I guess you're going to find out tho.

I have a feeling that to make this work I am going to have to build a circut with some diodes or maybe a timer switch.
The problem that I see with permanently grounding it is that it is (I think) a N/O switch so I assume it grounds it to turn it off, and then grounds it again to turn it back on again.
Does that make sense? Or am I out to lunch?

So basically he just needs a "momentarily on" switch that is actuated and released by some method to auto off the trac control.BlackRoseRacing wrote:this switch works as a softtouch in a sense. when you hit the button and let go it grounds the circuit and releases. similar to the pushbutton on a computer....
I would go this route, if the price shipped is reasonable. It would be the cleanest look, if you wanted to go with what you had. Or it could be tied into an auto off set up, so if you wanted to re engage TC, you could.SlvrACR wrote:I think i still have one if you just want to buy the switch

Might not be exact for wiring colors but Bill has it nailed down pretty well. That's in the PT/GT Cruiser section.

Thats pretty good.
I was thinking of using a capacitor, but I was at work, and didn't have time to think it out.

So If I would add a relay like this...(See Link)
http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#ctm
Maybe activate it off the starter, so that when I started my car it would charge the capacitor, hold the relay closed (grounded) for 1/2 a second or so. Then just run this in parallel with the factory switch on the sense wire so I can still use the switch like normal.
