Okay earlier today i went onto cardomain.com just to check out some rides and since i had not been on there in a while just snoop around at some rides.

Within 15 minutes of searching my computer got infected.

The virus is called vista anitvirus pro 2010. It will spam your computer saying you maybe infected, have a virus, and some other things.

I know it was from cardomain because during my sweep this afternoon i had a cookie that was viral.

The virus ended up being 6 of them (yes my computer is sweeped every three days).

Nothing froze but the virus is a real annoyance.

I just want to keep you all informed so you dont run into the same predicament i got into.

Stay off cardomain

I wonder if this is some sort of circulating thing? The girlfriend was on an apartment website earlier that she's been to probably 5 other times, but all of a sudden it gave her a cookie and some other shit, out of nowhere. Maybe it's the same?

Yeah faceless it comes up as like a protection type thing like "oh let us scan your shit for shit... blah blah blah." then you click off it and the little icon in the bottom right of your screen just keeps popping up.

I almost chuck norrised my computer.

It's not just Cardomain. It's a pretty big thing going on right now. Some of my coworkers will get emails from 'FaceBook' saying they have to click on a link to read a message, and then get the same 'antivirus' popup you got. Big, big email thing.

Best thing you can do is try to recognize it as soon as it pops up and go into your task manager and just end your browser process completely. Most of them don't begin the download until you click on the 'OK' or 'SCAN' button.

It's not fun having to clean an entire business network of one of those. Believe me. :banghead:

Damn maybe thats why mine took so long to get rid of since it said that two of my security features were turned off and to turn them back on i have to buy the full version of some program. Once that happen and it became ridiculous i googled it and sure enough it was a virus.

but wait you were saying something about the ending browser process, i tried that but i could not find it? Idk i got it off my computer hopefully.

Yes. something popped up on my computer warning me that my computer had been infected and that I needed to take action to get rid of it. the pop up was not from my normal computer protection (symantec) so I started to question the warning.
The pop up wanted me to download something to get rid of the virus, and whenever i tried to close the warning, it would not go away. more would keep popping up.
I decided to run a full scan on my computer, and all it found was a tracking cookie that was deleted immediately.
all i have to say is THAT VIRUS GOT PWNED
Watch out everyone! and Do Not download the warning lol

Well, you're already infected so it wouldn't matter.

I meant it for people who are just about to get it.

ex:

You get the pop-up saying "ZOMG YOUR COMPUTER IZ INFEKTED! CLEEK HUR!" >> DON'T CLICK IT!!! >> Ctrl, Alt, Del >> Task Manager >> Processes >> iexplore.exe, firefox.exe, chrome.exe, or whatever you run >> Click 'END PROCESS'

That'll close the entire browser process and bypass the pop-up.

That program/virus thing has been going around since 2007. They just change the date every year. It's a bitch to remove if you haven't dealt with it before. I've got the removal down pretty well.

Yup, I've made some decent money off of retards who keep getting that on their computer. Every time I tell them that unless it says AVG ANTIVIRUS on it, it's not from their antivirus, and it's bullshit.

They keep clicking on it, so I keep making money off of them.

There known as "Rogue Antivirus"
They are fake antivirus programs that are java based. Once that pop up hits the computer your infected. In the past 3 days I've got 3 pc's in my hands that were hit with it and one of them is a brand new HP laptop that got infected the day it was brought home.
I'f you do happen to get infected the best way I have been able to get rid of it is to reboot the pc into Safe Mode w/ Networking. Download and install "Spybot - Search and Destroy" it's free  And now most users have McAfee preinstalles, I typically remove that and install "Avast Antivirus Free edition".
Once in safe mode run spybot first:
Example of laptop infections spybot is removing as I'm typing this:
1 - Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.AntivirusOveride
2 - Fraud.SecurityTool
3 - Fraud.Sysguard
4 - WinSpywareProtect
That's what Spypot found so far and it's almost 75% done in scanning.
After that I will run Avast and let it do it's thing.....
Microsoft has released a FREE antivirus program for WindowsXP/Vista/7 users but I do not know how well that works since I do not use it. They also have Windows Defender free for download which is supposed to stop the "Rogue Antivirus" programs from infected the pc. Hope this helps ya...

i use avast on my pc , i have windows 7 ultimate, i have never had any issues with avast i swear by it and recommend it to everyone, at my old job we used Microsoft Security Essentials on customers computers and i dont know if it was the agent program we installed on the computers that would let us lock them out if they didnt pay, or if it was the antivirus but had all kinds of issues!
