These ATX Trans blowouts

Post by Alex Kurdian » Sat Feb 27, 2010 7:07 pm

There seems to be aloa issues with ATX and blowouts with the radiator...

is there any corelation between what sorta Rads are at fault? Cars or models?
I have the 4 speed Auto with a RAD that has a double fan...

My friend here with a 3 speed Auto has had is blowout and a mix of ATX fluid with Coolant...stuffed it right up...

So is there anything common?? is it more 3 speed single fans etc etc?
I drove My Neon till it "SOLD" And then bought a Mazda 3 Skyactiv

I see a lot more 2gns in general with the problem. I dunno if they switched manufactures in 2000 and they didn't make them quite as good or what...
I just hope it doesn't happen to mine

Well considering I've heard of problems with both I'd have to say it doesn't matter

Run a big aftermarket trans cooler, and eliminate the lines to the rad, Problem solved.

That still only solves part of the problem so when it does blow out the fluid doesn't mix but the radiator will still need replaced. So in that respect I'd put an mtx radiator in

I think it is more along the lines of, they install separate coolers because the radiator one fails.

I don't know if my sister's Neon has a single or double fan but apparently her trans cooler blew out about 2 weeks ago.

Now the transmission clunks on the upshift into first.

So now there may need to be a rebuild or something for it unless miraculously it clears up on it's own.

If it's an ATX, it's safe to assume that it is a dual-fan setup.
