Calling all experts(cluster question)
I wanted to install a cluster in my 00 neon. My car didnt come with a tach but i want to install one with it. Would It plug up the same or do i need to replace the wire harness?

From what i understand you can use any cluster up to the 02's. I'm assuming because of the ecu change you cannot use the srt clusters. 00-02 are what you can use. I changed mine on my 01 and had no problems except for the little red light. DOn't worry about it. It doesn't harm anything, and after a while you don't even see it
. you could just take that bulb out though. I'm just lazy.

Red light? You mean the anti-theft light?hlfahemi wrote:From what i understand you can use any cluster up to the 02's. That's correct. We compared the FSMs from 01 and 03 and the wiring harnesses are different. All the gauges on G2 cars are ECU driven I think and if the wires don't work right, the SRT panel will look cool, but the needles won't do much.hlfahemi wrote:From what i understand you can use any cluster up to the 02's. Plug 'n play. Your odometer will read what is "held" by the new cluster. Swapping the odometer LCD and chip doesn't swap the odometer reading. (I learned this the hard way). Get a cluster that reads more than your currrent milage, then swap them when your car "catches up" to the new cluster.

this thread again?

SRT cluster works fine in any 2nd gen Neon.
TRAC OFF light won't operate properly with the switch.. TRAC indicator in the display might not either.. haven't gotten around to checking that out yet.
If the link doesn't work directly, cut and paste it.

it'll read the correct speed in metric
If you put a metric gauge cluster in a US Spec car your speedometer will read your correct speed in metric. If you're traveling at what would have read 60mph on your old US spec cluster, your new Metric cluster will read the metric equivalent of 60mph. Metric clusters also have small MPH indicators under the larger KPH markings (opposite of our gauges) so you could still know how fast your traveling in MPH.
It WON'T read 60 kph when you actually going 60 mph if that's what your question is. The speed/distance sensor and thus speedometer signal is the same on US vs Metric Neons.
The metric gauge clusters go up to 240 KPH which I believe is somewhere around 160 mph. So technically other than the speedometer face, the Metric Neon speedometer is identical to the SRT 160mph speedometer.

I just installed an 01-02R/T guage cluster in my 2001 LE. IT works fine except for the ABS and parking break light come on. Since I don't have ABS I/m not worried about that one, but my parking break is off. So would this be coming on because of the ABS light too?
Is there a bulb or led i can remove so the abs light and or parking break will not light up?
