A question that must be asked

Post by bone-yard-racing » Sun Mar 14, 2010 10:07 pm

Is the DiabloSport Predator really the answer to all of life's questions? Everything I read on SRTforums is you have to get a DSP its the greatest thing ever.

Im not super interested in huge power somewhere in the area of 325whp would be perfect (I have no problem changing the turbo) Getting there is a long term goal with the chassis as it is now Id like to see 260 or so. Suggestions?

I post primarily on the other .org, so I really don't know your setup but doesn't the predator only work on the SRT neons? I didn't think they would work with a, well for instance a 2003 r/t NGC car. If they do I'm selling my F/IC and getting one to make my life easier, but I didn't think they worked on anything other than the SRT-4.

Ahh, then yes, the predator does seem to be the "bees knees" for the SRT's.

Hey BYR you really do have to start specifying which car you're talking about. I forgot you even bought that ACR. :)

It basically upgrades to around a stage 2 from what I read. Alot of people get it since the ECus are harder to come by now and the price it dum The DSP doesnt have to be flashed and has more user options to mess with

DSP does for the SRTs what RRFPRs did for 1st gens. It works, and for some stuff, it works pretty good. But when you outgrow it or want more capability than the stock ECU can physically do, then a standalone is the only way to go. AEM and MS are the easiest as they already have the NGC crank wheel programmed. Others, you need a trigger wheel, and then it's a pain in the booty.
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

If you're the average joe that wants a life outside tuning a car, or don't want the headaches of a standalone, it's very very hard to beat DSP.

It's not overrated, and it works very efficiently. I was able to dial in my car timing and fuel wise in just a few runs.

Granted, you will get nowhere near the performance of a full stand alone, but for the price and ease, you can't really complain. I was destroying 300whp cars no problem on stock turbo with DSP, meth and a few other bolt ons.

Pick one up for $240~, you won't regret it.
