Okay so how many of you have changed it? Also at what mileage?

My 1gn had it start leaking and would slowly make the light flicker at idle and got worse.

My 2gn started this: Sunday.
When I first start the car up, after not starting it for a period of time(After I wake up, after sitting at school/work) the oil light doesn't go out no matter what. So I shut the car off, and turn it back on and the light goes out like it should.

I'm thinking it's the oil unit, but wouldn't expect it to be going with under 60k on it.

Mine is leaking a drip or two every day and also turns the oil light on intermittently.

I'm at 110,000 and its been giving flase signals for about 6 months now..

BTW, under parts catalogs, they call it the oil switch, I was looking it up under autozone and its pretty cheap to replace.

Already had to replace the one in the 1gn, it's only like 6 bucks or something. Just wondering what all kinds of false positives they will give. And they are a PITA to change.

I replaced mine when I was working on the transmission....about 78,000 or so?

About 98,000. Bloody annoying as hell to get to, but easy and cheap.

the oem sending units suck my ram 2500 one went bad also, made the light flicker

Maybe just a bit of grit that has since gotten rinsed off and into the filter. It's cheap enough to replace as a just-in-case, but like I mentioned before, it's a pain to work on because of its location so I'd personally wait for the light to come back. But I'm pretty lazy. ;)

I changed my OP switch in January at about 140k miles because it started leaking and flashing the light at idle:

Backside of the engine (nearest the firewall), right in the middle.
