As for the manifolds, no they won't bolt to the neon head. I'm sure the turbo could be made to work, but at what cost per HP gain?

The best route would to go with a known set up that works with the 2.0 neon.

Getting a turbo from a 20 year old car is likely to have some negative issues.

How do you figure that? Forward Motion makes upgraded turbos for the stock manifold, as well as an upgraded manifold. Not to mention the wide assortment of upgrades from other companies.

Even the stock turbo will support up to 320hp with other support mods. So what do you mean?
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I think you need to do some research on turboing your car before you start to get into this.

Lets look at my setup, I bought the cheapest reliable turbo (srt turbofold) and made an adaptor plate for it.

After running the piping, oil and coolant lines, mounting the IC and wiring the megasquirt as well as swapping injectors and fitting new sensors, running vaccum lines and a boost controller and installing the new guages and tuning, the turbo and the manifold come out to be a small percentage to a huge project. If u wanted to, u could buy an asp turbo manifold and turbo right now and be all the better.

In truth, u can swap that turbo for anything u want later on, but getting your car READY for boost is where all the work comes in.

Do some research, or ask some questions around the forced induction area. Once u figure out how and what you need, then start adding up what parts u need, and start stockpiling.

well, a small turbo isnt gonna be any better than a big one, in fact a smaller turbo is gonna make more tq which will really screw ur rods. Ide go with a larger turbo and fan my powerband out a little bit

I feel like he was referring to how much it cost him, hence the "JY turboes FTW" quote. Or that he found one and has been boosted for 2k. Lul. What a confusing statement!

Junkyard turbos work. So do leaf blowers, and it's dyno proven. Do they work well? That depends on what you are using. If I found an s362 in a junkyard, it would work pretty good in a drag car. But you won't find em.

Getting back on topic, to the OP: Of course a junkyard setup is possible, but considering the fact that almost no one does it these days on these engines, you're gonna have to figure it out for yourself. Sounds like you know what you're doing, so why the questions?

Nothing from a 2.2/2.5/2.4 turbo setup will bolt up to the 2.0. Does that help?

He's trying to save money. Outside the Neon world, JY turbos are pretty popular. I heard about a local CRX that had a $1000 setup and was blowing everyone's doors off sleeper style. Unfortunately, our engines don't have all the R&D that the Honda guys do, so we have to sort things out the long hard way. Engine management is a big issue too.

There's no such thing as cheap and easy when it comes to a Neon.

There is however cheap and hard.
