R/T side skirt install question..

Post by strykr » Sun Mar 21, 2010 7:11 pm

Okay so I went to the wreckers looking for a new hood for my car and couldnt find a single one that wasnt already rusted or damaged.. the wreckers I go to stacks alot of their cars sadly.. and they end up falling onto the hoods or ppl stand on them:s.. so I then decided to look for other things I might want, and came across an 03 R/T that only had side skirts left:s lol

Now for my actual question, how do I install the skirts onto my car that doesnt have 'holes' for them yet? My haynes manual doesnt tell me anything about installing them.. does anyone have a idea or an pdf page on installing them?

and the 'tree' clip part-code? because when i went to the dealership to find them, the guy there didnt know where to find it:s

There is a write-up or two. Basically, without the instructions, mock up the skirts and brackets (maybe with duct tape, etc...) and mark them. Measure twice, drill once.

That's a common way. I'd get the holes drilled or use self-tapping, and for a little reassurance, tape the tops.

How would i use self tapping screws when the "holes" are gonna be hidden under the skirt? cuz with the clips, u just press them in then press the bottom clips in... or?

What? The part that is bolted to the car is totally under the car. It wont be visible unless you're under it. The "clips" or "brackets" that hold the skirt to the car are completely hidden too.

i wouldn't trust just tape on the top, i dont think you can buy the clips seperately or if you can there really expensive.

Body shop I went to installed the skirt with just the 3M tape on top... and it's now falling off, so I would not recommend doing that.

Ask Crystal Marie about the part number, I know she has purchased them.
