Yup. Too many thick lines in all of those. I've got ~3 good ideas down, and they involve a couple of large lines, but everything else has to be small. Flames? Gay. "2gn?" Gay. When I doodled mine, I started with an idea in my head. Then I just started going crazy, and that's when it got good. Don't try so hard to stick with a theme throughout the hood. Just let your fingers go crazy (that's what she said).

Also, you seem to be into art and whatnot. Invest in some solid sketch paper and drawing pencils. You'll dig your work more and more when it's done on materials made for it.

I use, basically, a 12" x 15" sketchpad with some Kimberly pencils. Very smooth, better size to get you a better feel for the actual look, and much more time consuming to draw on. That's a personal preference for me, but I want my drawings to look exactly as I want them. Those aren't bad for rough sketches, but you'll get a greater response when your lines and ideas are crisp and sharp. Gives a much better indication.

I know doing the hood in Sharpie is actually a cheap and fun mod, but I would honestly get a second hood. I've got my SRT hood that I sport daily, but I've still got my OE hood, colormatched as well. Best thing to do is have the spare not only for practice, but it gives you unlimited time to work on it and perfect, AND you don't have to have it on the car all the time. I know after a few days, mine would come off. I just get bored that easily. Also, makes it easier to yank it off, wipe it clean, and slap a new idea on it

If I was an artist, I'd TOTALLY sharpie the hood of my xB.

I love when it's done properly

OH NO! has the "first" epidemic hit you too?! I hate reading when people on this site were the first to do something... you weren't.. it's all been done before. Platform doesn't really matter. It's not a big deal. Nothing against you Teej, just a pet peeve that REALLY annoys me

Better paper and drawing, but too "Ed Hardy / Forearm ink." Lol. IMO, stick to basic designs and doodles, and roll with them. Staying away from real material things, detailed items, etc... clutters it more and takes away from it being a work of art and makes me think it's closer to the airbrushed hoods with skulls and flames on them.
