HID lights turning purple
HID lights turning purple
Hey there guys/gals!
Need your help with the following:
Got an 10K HID kit about 2 weeks ago. (Deep blue light)
Light output is still the same but the actual light is turning into this purple crap that I don't really enjoy.
Do you think my HID bulbs are already going out, or I got some other problem?
Thanks again!

Re: HID lights turning purple
They aren't going out but like everybody said, did you order the right bulbs, cause I know that the higher the number, the darker it gets like more purplish, I've got 6000K HID's on my SRT and the light beam is white with a hint of blue.SP33DN3ON wrote:Hey there guys/gals!

You guys are right they do look purple at first when I start them, but now they look the same color even after a 20 minute drive at night
p.s. Great write-up glasswars, I had to drill 3/8 hole in my headlight housing so the bulb can actually fit haha!
wow spent way to much i got my hids for like $56 shipped, vvme.com

$100 for a HID kit is probably too expensive. I got mine for 40 shipped and they never change the color. I wonder if the HID bulb will change the color spontaneously (unless during warm up)... If the HID dies it will flash and blinker then out right?...
For the color temp, I suggest 6000K which is bright white. But for best output 4300K is the one.

^^ This guy. That range is probably the best to use if you're trying to get good visibility. If you got 10k or higher, you're probably looking for the color just to look cool. Your visibility will not be any greater than stock IMO and you'll get some thumbs up from local ricers and thumbs down (or some paperwork) from da fudge.heydockyle wrote:6k is actually white with blue tint. 5k is white. 4300 is white with yellow tint.
