So today I was just randomly surfing the net. One of the locals is selling his SRT4. Its an 04 with upgrades and in good condition. About 58K miles on it. When I was looking up values and suggested prices, I was surprised what I found. As most of you know I purchased my SRT4 last July for $11,000. It had 42,000 miles on it at the time and was mainly stock other than a catch can and cold air intake. I recall getting a decent deal because I remember researching the values and it booking for anywhere between 11,500 to 13500 depending on which guide you looked at (KBB, Edmunds, NADA). Now not even a year later, I put in the same specs as when i purchased it and I am finding worths from $8,500 to 11,000. I was kind of shocked. I dont know if its the perceived reputation of Chrysler and their products or if its because its now 2010 and a new decade and the car is 1 more year older. But i was shocked to see prices in the 8k's for SRT4's with near 50k miles. The local wants to get 13.5k and knows he has overpriced it but after looking I was surprised to see how much by. Anyone else have a take on this and why they think these Resources are valuing the SRT4 so low now???? :twisted:

Mine's worth 7k stock with the current mileage, retail is 9k. Shitty resale.

i would never buy one at this point, as much as i'd love to own it, they're getting old, and you can nearly guarantee they've been beaten on. they'll soon be in th 4-5k range, and the wreckage will be lining the roads lol

It's not a collector car so it's going to depreciate. Rare 60s and 70s muscle just started getting wicked values in the last 10-15 years.

neons, srt4 or not are not worth shit, thats why i love em, can cut them up, buy new parts etc for cheap, hell even buy whole parts cars for almost nothing, live it, love it, but when it comes to value fuck it :thumbup:

I too have seen the prices for srt4 going down. I've been looking at some and I sometimes find em in the 5 to 6kprice range. I've also seen a decently modified one for 8k.


This is bad resale value but good for those who don't got a lot of cash cause now they are affordable.

I think everyone needs to remember that the youngest SRT is 5 years old. 5 year old domestic cars don't have a high resale value.

Yes, but those same Muscle Cars from my youth were cheap as heck by the mid-70's (well, the ones that survived being beaten on :roll: ). I see no reason why the SRT-4 won't have the same fate down the road, especially since the majority of them will have been abused or dead shortly. Even mine isn't worth what it was just last year due to the :cussing: accident I had in February.

our cars are worthless... no matter what you have at the end of neon (srt, rt, acr, sxt) especially at the rate they are dieing, i know of 3 totaled local srts with in the last 2 months. :(

maybe 20 years from now.. with the RIGHT buyer they might have some value

That's like saying that, in the future, we will be calling rap music "classical music" just because it'd be an older style of music. It just does not, and never will, hold the same value as true, classical music.

Applying that to the car world for anyone who couldn't figure out the analogy: The SRT4 can never be put in the same category as a muscle car, even after time moves on. The reason muscle cars sell is their nostalgic value. The newer domestic market is a completely different monster and just does not hold the same value. I'm not saying that SRT4's should be held to the same light as muscle cars, but that their market value will just never follow the same pattern.

I hate to say this but, if things continue the way that they have, rap music will, in the future, be labelled as "classic rap". :roll: Hey, when I was a kid in the 70's, I never thought that what was popular music then would someday be called "classic rock" but now that is a whole genre for the radio market. Same difference for Muscle Cars- once the fad had passed by the mid-70's, those cars weren't really thought of as being anything special. What makes them collectible now is that most of them didn't survive (the rarity factor) and also that people my age are becoming more and more nostalgic (and now have the money to fix up and buy the old cars). The same thing will happen with you kids when you get older, even though you won't admit it or can't understand it now. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about, I've been there.

It almost makes me want to buy a SRT-4 rather than a 1GN and do the swap.

Just from QUICKLY searching the net .. I've found several that are less than 70k miles and sub 10k..

i just hope in the future RAP just ceases to be, and will be replaced with musicians that actualy have talent and can sing, play etc. :rofl:

The true value of the car is what you get out of it. It varies greatly between users. Enjoy it while you have it.

Some are fortunate enough to have somewhere to store them so they don't get consumed by mother nature. But eventually she will get her due. :twisted:

Anyone else realise that we are all talking about a 5-7 year old domestic compact here? Even though they are fun and fast(ish) they will never be as popular as a N/A Civic or Corolla of a similar year. It's a niche vehicle and most are very well worn and modded. A stock one in good shape with good miles is gonna be a tough one to find. There are plenty of 100K with custom wheels, intakes, body mods, etc. for sub $10K all day long on the web. Plus if you actually showed up to a dealer with the car you want with cash in hand, you will never have to pay that internet price (prolly a $1k or more off).

Similar cars like say the RX-8 in similar shape and year goes for about that price as well. Maybe a few grand more depending on the area. We just sold a 2004 with brand new custom wheels/tires in very good shape and mid 50's miles for $12K.

There is a black srt4 acr all original and only 44k (I think that's what he said my phone was crackling ) for 10.5 I want it but dont have the money for another payment or mod car since I just got a house
