Magnum exhaust port and header tube size

Magnum exhaust port and header tube size

Post by Thomsy » Sun Mar 28, 2010 7:59 pm

Hey guys Ive got an 2001 RT and I'm thinking about making my own turbo manifold since I don't like the very few options us 2G owners have. I haven't even found one that's for an RT yet. So my questions are what is the exhaust port size in the head and what is the tube size for the Magnum header collectors?

1 5/8 at the head side with 3 exhaust collector side. I just went out and measured to be double sure but u wouldn't need the collector size for Turbo applications

3 inch collector. That's huge. Ya for turbo u go smaller for higher velocity for a better flow to turbo correct?
Thanks man I really appreciate it. And such a fast response time.
I'm not to lazy to pull my manifold if that what u thinking. I recently had surgery on my heel and I'm still on crutches. I can't even drive my RT (5 Spd) let alone work on it so I'm planing turbo projects instead lol

Yeah lazy or not those header bolts are a bitch to get out and then replacing gaskets..... not worth it for a few measurements that someone like myself can get off the spare parts laying in the garage.

As far as the small port velocity thing I dont know. I do know you can buy a t3 /t4 flange and an intake flange to fit our car on eBay for about 10$ a piece. Throw in a wga flange and a little piping with a 1 5/8 I.D. and your set

Good luck man!

Was the exhaust port on the head also 1 5/8?
And I found the flange and I just gota measure and make sure it'll fit my turbo. A Borg Warner k14 but it looks right
I didn't see a intake flange though.
What's a wga flange?

Thanks once again

Just buy an R/T exhaust manifold gasket, and use it as the template. You would at least want to gasket match the ports on both sides anyways. It might cost you $10 or so, but you will have an accurate template.

Ill check the head ports when I get home this afternoon. Wga is a wastegate flange some turbofolds integrate them. Sometimes they are on the Turbo itsself, if u have to get a cardboard template of your current intake flange and take it to a local metal shop. There is one near me that made me one for $15 on my hemi truck and they made it as thick or thin as I wanted, with everything being laser cut. They used my manifold gasket and it was saweet!

Duh wastegate. Lol. Mines integrated and adjustable.
That's one less thing to worry about.

IIRC, Magnum ports are about 1 3/8" diameter on the exit of the head. (Standard ports are about 1 3/16" at the exit of the head.)

Your right. I'll need the gasket anyways to make the manifold flange since I can only find SRT ones and they wont bolt up without the adapter plate correct?? And the more metal down there the less room I will have for the top mount setup.

03blackrt is right. 1 3/8 exhaust ports but the gasket (metal one on the factory manifold) is 1 5/8

Yes the srt one wont fit without the mattdog adapter. There's one on sale on neons.org for 150$ right now and thats cheap

Thanks but I don't want one. I just was hoping to find a flange to start with so I don't have to get one made. Making my own will be cheaper and take up less room by the firewall than the srt setup. And I'll have exactly what I want with equal length runners and a top mount.
