eclipse head!?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

eclipse head!?

Post by neon krazy419 » Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:44 pm

i recently talked to some kid from Michigan with a 2.0SOHC neon, he said i should switch my head to an eclipse head so it switches my exhaust and intake around.... he said it will bolt right up with no modification, just a longer pipe for exhaust. Is this true? will my connectors, ignition coil, and everything else fit? and would my pistons hit the valves since the valves off of that head are different and its DOHC mines SOHC.... Should i do it or is he talking shit to sound smart cuz to me that doesn't seem like it would work AT ALL!!!!

The DOHC neon head would be a better idea. The only reason for the Eclipse head would be for crazy FI applications.

I've seen an avenger head done but on an srt. The point is so you can plant a bigger Turbo (or 2) on the front of the motor and not have clearance issues. As far as pistons meeting with valves, I dont know but this would be the same as any dohc swap.
The eclipse was a 420a motor which is pretty much the same as the 1gn motors. But that's as much as I know and im probably wrong about something
