Top dog bone mount.new ? post #25

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Top dog bone mount.new ? post #25

Post by Neon4Life » Fri Apr 02, 2010 12:12 pm

so plain and simple.

i got a top dog bone mount that im finally going to install.

i took the old one off with no problem.but the holes dont line up when i try to put the new mount on. if i align one of them then the other hole doesnt line up. do i need to move the motor back or something. << if i do then where do i grab it from to move it back..?

:tardbang:

I'd say grab wherever u can and shove. Moving the motor back some might reduce vibration a little too.

well you sir are correct.

i figured it out tho.

i had to have my dad and brother in law push the motor back while i lined up the bolts. so i got it all done.

mod can lock this thread if you want to.

hey i tried searching but did not find anything.

well i got another question. is the vibration everyone says there is with the Dog Bones like when you take off from 1st.

cause when i take off in 1st i feel a big vibration. keep in mind i dont have the bottom mount on yet.. cause i havent bought it yet. but can not having the bottom one be that vibration im feeling.

i also just this morning put new control arm bushings on both of the control arms.if that matters any.

your feeling a lot of the vibration when you take off because of the clutch engaging. yes its normal and you better get used to it

C'mon man, it's stickied right above your post. Two beating for you now :beatstick: :beatstick:

And did you read the post? The whole reason for the alignment is to reduce the vibration to it's lowest amount. A little more vibration is normal for those mounts, but if the alignment is correct then it will be much less then if it isn't aligned properly.

Good man. Let us know how it turns out.

And since you have the mount in place already you don't need to remove it. Loosen the bolts (make the bolt at the apron losser so it can slide) and do the procecdure. It really is pretty easy.

wooops. guess it did sound dumb. lolz.

i got a question that might be dumb but i need to ask.

when measuring at the stud. do i measure from the middle of the stud to the other hole or does the entire stud have to be passed on the 119 or 4.7" mark.

Center of the stud to center of the hole. Just take a thin sharpie and make a mark at the center of the stud, and put tape across the hole at the center if that makes it easier than eyeballing it.

Unless something didn't get bolted back on rite when messing with my lca.. but I double checked everything. Arrgg. Oh well. Ill just deal with it I guess.

Hommie? Like a commie?

And yep, get used to the vibration. My first gen vibrated like a mofo with just solid upper motor mount and solid adjustable bobble strut.

Actually I can witstand the vibration now. See just a few ago I put new rotors and pads on the front and rear cause they was horrible. And I just went for a test drive and the vibration went down some. Like there's less vibration than before with the bad rotors.

So i m good. I'm keeping the mount.

Just remember that you took nearly all of the dampening material out to get these dogbones.

It's gonna vibrate.

i got another question..

i sorta hear like a whinning noise inside the cabin now.

what is it ?

sounds like it would be the belt.. but i dont know. i know all these noises come from having the stiffer mount. but im just wondering on what the noise is. thats all.

Did you forget to remove the squirrels from the engine compartment after putting in the mount?
