WOW $400 these ppl are nuts

Post by cbjones26 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 11:29 pm

not sure where i should really put this. but anyways.....

ok i called the local dealership today and asked them for a price on the mopar rear lip kit and the hardware kit for the oem R/T side skirts.
the reply i get is " i cant get the hardware kit by itself you have to order the side skirts", so i proceed to ask, "arent they discontinued?".
" why yes they are" so im told im SOL on those, so for shits and giggles i asked if they can get me a rear mopar lip kit, yes we can order just the rear kit will come with all the hardware you need to install on your car. so i think yes, its gonna be less then $100.00 with tax.
boy was i wrong. i almost passed out when they told me it was $400 plus tax. i asked if that is just for the rear lip only and they said it was, for the front and back it would be over 800 they told me. so then i hung the phone up on them bc they are a bunch of dumb ass's!
why is the dodge dealership up here in the north country such a big rip off! i mean wtf, i called another that is like over 2 hrs away and i can get the front and rear for around 130 with tax.
needless to say i got a fellow 2gn(er) going to try to get everything that i need, they need a front mopar lip i need a rear. i pay for both, they purchase them we meet up he keeps the front lip for his time and for meeting me for me to get the rear lip and the side skirt hardware. win win for both i think!

That's how much they sold for originally IIRC. Sounds like that dealer didn't get the memo back when DCX started liquidating their inventory and selling them dirt cheap. IMO they ruined it by making them so cheap; all the noobs got them for hardly anything, and now everyone thinks they're getting ripped off if they cost over $100-150. Back in the day, before they were cheap, people paid two to three times that.

So glad they're finally almost sold out.

He paid some partial price for the front I'm guessing, and his SRT rear came from some sort of accident and he used that chance to get that rear as an "upgrade."

Close Adam. I bought the front and sides together used from another member. That was back in like 2006. Not sure what I payed, I wanna say $200 or so; I got a steal. Then another $250 for paint. And yeah the SRT rear I talked my way into as an upgrade after I was rear ended a couple December's back.

I def wouldn't have paid $800 for them, unless that included paint and a blow job.

 2 BJs, maybe.

Yeah, I knew it was something like that Derek. I remember a post saying where/how you acquired the rear you've got.

I thought it was interesting when we all were buying the front, rear and side kits when they went on clearance at the stealership..

When I picked up mine and paid, I noticed they had the original price and the clearance price on the receipt.... Think the front and rear was over $800!

the manufacturer does not have anymore inventory left, I already checked
They also do not have any spare hardware left, I already cleaned them out for other members.....
I won't release the info on who the manufaturer is due to Chrysler regulations, but I'll tell you this, check out:
