It was amusing at the time, too. That thing prolly went 30 feet in the air. It took some time to finally see it in the rear view mirror.

I went back, slapped it back on, and slowly drove back home, and chained the thing to the bumper. It wasn't like it hurt the looks too much. The good ole days when you could get a beater for $75, and drive it for over a year. Meh, it got me by. It was the best running beast ever for the money. Little did I know at the time, the previous owner had raced VW's and dropped one of his extra engines in it to trade it in. It was in such bad shape, the dealer I worked for sold it to me cheap, just so they didn't have to deal with having it towed away.

That thing would burn rubber rolling at 40 mph.

Jeg's and others sell metal and fiberglass hood scoops that can be bolted, epoxied, or (in the case of metal scoops) welded to your
stock hood. I bought a fiberglass hood scoop and bolted it to my 99 Neon R/T hood over 3 years ago, and it still looks good.

Welding to the hood causes massive warping. It can't handle the heat.

has their quality gone down? I got mine about 8 or 9 years ago from howell and it was pretty well built. also new a guy that got one for his 1st gen and it was built just as well. On a side not though we did get another hood from them bout 5 years ago, dont remember the style cuz it wasnt a cuda and it did seem pretty flimsly built.

Well Brodie (Supertrick_05) had one and I know the quality left a little to be desired. The underside was unfinished and the scoop looked out of place and didn't follow the contours of the hood at all. I believe he had trouble dealing with Howell in general too.

not if done correctly... but that goes for any body work.
