00 grille inserts...making them

hey all we all know how over priced the grillcraft inserts r...i was wondering what ppl have done to get the grillcraft look without paying a arm n a leg....what did u use and how did u mount t to fit? My 00 looks bad with no grille just a big empty space so i wanna fill it with sum mesh.....

just buy some race mes ... cut it in shape ... instal it and use some white tyrips to hold it in place.

what did u zip/strap the mesh to? Wonder if 2 stage epoxy would hold the lower mesh to the bumper as i dont see no places to mount the mesh to...

If you look really closely to the first picture, there are little "L" tabs that are made for shelves or something.

I used two of those and just put a bolt through the mesh with a nut and washer, and then used a self-tapping screw to mount it to the bumper itself. You could only see the setup if you were close and the mesh didn't get in the way of the hood latch at all, either. Also, the brackets I got were like $.38 at Ace or something, and much thinner so they were hidden well.

You can also go to home depot and buy the gutter grille for bout $2 a sheet.. 3 sheets should do it for the 00 bumper..

I'll see if I have some old pic of when I had mines in..
