I thought that ONLY the Turbo PT's have the 140 amp alt ?thisdieingdream1 wrote:does any one know what year that pt cruiser is that has the 140 amp alternator and if the plug is the same for a 04 sxt
2002-up PT Cruisers were available with the turbo, but I have never seen one in a junkyard yet.
All the PT's I have seen in the junkyard, were N/A.

Matt (nitehawk) put a PT alt on his car last year. I don't recall which model he used it from.

It was from an N/A model, and not a Turbo model..... He said the Turbo PT Alt. would not fit.
NiteHawk wrote:Due to trial and error I can 100% confirm that the pt Turbo alternator is not compatible with the neon. The mounting points are too far apart and the connector is different.
The maximum amperage is dependent upon the build of the alternator itself, if that is what you are asking.Themaggots wrote:Only voltage is PCM regulated no?
And Yes, the PCM regulates how much voltage the alternator puts out.

The alternator will put out whatever amperage it is capable of, to maintain the target voltage. The target voltage will vary depending on ambient temperature. There isn't really a direct way to control the amperage output. It is basically a response to how far the voltage drops.

the only thing i would need to do is upgrade wiring to 4 gauge?
is this the SAME with the 05 dodge neon 120 amp alt?
Do you read? No, the turbo pt alt will not work.

The 120A neon alt will work.
