Oni Camber

Post by glasswars » Fri Apr 16, 2010 9:27 am

Oni ( 鬼 ) is the Japanese word for demon or ogre. When it comes to cars, it’s about running the absolute craziest amount of camber possible and in the pursuit of going over the top, wheels are coming close to sitting horizontally – supporting the cars weight on a contact patch of no more than 2 inches a corner in some cases.

ok i really have to ask.

- doesnt the wear the tire fast?
- whats the top speed you can go doing this 5mph
- why would anyone do that ?

then my opinion
- this has got to be one of the gayest things i have seen done to a car!

Of all the stupid trends out there, this is prob the worst.

"Let's see...stretching tires isn't unsafe enough, so let's run on just the sidewall!". Fucking morons.

I'm waiting for the ultimate stupid trend that simply kills the driver as soon as the key is turned. Call it the Kicky Fast Pow Death trend. Sweet.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

i think you got an idea, sretch motorcycle tires and then you have more of a side contect patch, therefore you can have more camber, good thinking.

I just ran out there with my wimpy camera and shot this so pardon the roughness. The camber is subtle but noticeable; camber in the rear is a little more than -.5 since it's lowered.

My dad's 07 civic si sedan has negative camber, subtle, but noticable. Supposedly for performance purposes though. Always, my friends 99 BMW 323is also has negative camber, performance purposes as well.

A small amount (like -2.5*)of negative camber in the front does increase cornering performance at the price of launching traction and braking grip.

But this is simply retarded. All the weight of the car is on a contact patch of ~2" per corer. And its not like they are driving the lightest car around. I doubt those tire last 200 miles. Tire sidewalls are only a few ply thick.

And no Anthony, your not allowed to do this to your neon.
