Ok so I went to go plug in my phone charger and lone and behold it doesn't work. So of course I check the interior fuse box. They are all fine in there and I didn't even see one for the acc. outlet. So I then checked the fuse box under the hood and I found my problem. I replaced it when I got home from work last night.
I thought that was teh end of that problem.
I'm on my way to the gym this mourning and I know I smell something eletrical burning so I check everything, the switches especially and they are all fine, so I procede on and work out. I return to the car and plug in my phone and guess what... It doesn't charge.
I get home check the fuse and its blown again, I then insert another fuse and as soon as it touches the two contacts it blows instantly. Even with the key out of the ignition and having nothing in the outlet.
I am thinking that its grounding out somewhere, but where? I have never tapped anything into that wire and it worked fine a couple months ago.
Anyone??
cig lighter/ 12v outlet
I traced the wire as far as I could and it looked good..
So instead, I cut the red wire from the 12v outlet and I spliced it in to the radios acc line.
Now that line only gets power when the key is in the ignition like before.
While I was in there I wired the phone charger to the constant power wire to the radio and ran it out in the middle cubby.
Now I can charge my phone and a buddies phone..
