exhaust change

Post by blueneo03 » Thu Apr 29, 2010 8:16 pm

did they change the exhaust from 03 to 05.. i got a stock muffler from the jy off of an 05 i believe and i went to put it on today and it didn't fit... it hung too low on the driver side.. and also when i pushed it up it hit the under body... so did they change anything on the exhaust between 03 and 05?

TMK the rear muffler section was the same from '00 to '05, but I could be wrong.

My ex-gf's '03 rear stock muffler fit on my mom's '02. Though it's not he same years are you are referring to I don't see why they would change.

that was my thought... i know the general setup was the same... but im not sure if it was maybe a little more pipe on the muffler side on the later ones than on that of the earlier years..

I measured my old factory mufflers pipe from the muffler to the clamp, and then measured the one on my Mom's '02 (which is actually an '03) and they were the same.

Would the ULEV mufflers be different maybe? I know they got a smaller exhaust. But then again, I thought those weren't made in 03-05. Hmm.

I think the main difference was the dual cats and 2" piping throughout. AFAIK, all the SE/SXT mufflers/axle back were the same dimensions.

Post a few pics of it john. Maybe include some accurate measurements too. I have two OEM mufflers in my garage as we speak that I can refer to.

I used to have my OE ULEV muffler too, but it was all the same. SRT rear bolted right up to it, etc...

This. ULEV mufflers are no different than to any other OEM muffler. I had the ULEV system in my car, mufflers were the same blah blah blah.
