laneholt this is old news but i liked this quote from the article.
"We can also say we’re not particularly torn up about it, either. The Caliber SRT4 failed to live up to its Neon-based predecessor—a car which we once crowned king of the featherweights in a comparo—much less any of its current competition."

:D :D I love my NSRT-4 that I bought last November.

Wouldn't have a CRST-4. WTF, it's ugly and slower than the Neon,I posted this article because it expresses my opinion better than I ever could

Doubtful.

The regular Caliber still has a couple years left.

Makes me feel better about owning two.

I'll worry about it when they issue a recall, just like I did with my Prius.

The Caliber, Chrysler said, has a safety system that would cut engine power if the brake and gas pedals were pressed at once.

I'll have to try this :-k
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Hmm, I might consider a Caliber once I get to San Antonio.

There seems to be a number of them used that are reasonably priced in the area.

I think I would enjoy the functionality of the Caliber in terms of cargo space.

They do have a lot of space in them. I bet you could fit some 2x4x8s or 2x6x8s with the front passenger seat folded.

You can do that with a neon. Hauled 10-12ft sections of chromoly tube before.

^^ I've hauled a ladder in mine before. I don't remember the size of it, but it only hung out a little bit.

Also, I wouldn't mind a Caliber AT ALL. SRT or not, as long as it's a manual (which I heard they don't make anymore) I'd be cool. As many have learned, I'm not a speed or power freak, and I could DEF give two shits about amenities.

As far as looks go. The Caliber really leaves more to be desired but hey who are we to say a lot. We drive Neons and many people think we are crazy for driving them. I have had the experience of owning a NSRT4 and driving a CSRT4 a few times. The Caliber felt awkward to me of what I was used to. It wasn't bad but to be honest I wasn't overly impressed. It probably honestly doesn't need 6 gears. And when the average person sees one they dont even notice it. I feel it should of stood out more slightly. The SRT4 does in my eyes over a regular base Neon. Even before I knew anything about cars I could tell the difference.

The NSRT-4 doesn't stand out, imo.

If you compare the differences between the non-SRT and the SRT on both the Caliber and the Neon:

1. Hood
2. Front and rear bumper covers
3. spoiler
4. bigger wheels

I think from the exterior, that's about the bulk of it.

I think it's more of the style of the car as far as it not being noticed.

I'm probably one of the very few on here who likes Caliber (for what they are) and I know there are only a couple of us who actually own a Caliber.

I like the Caliber as well for the following reasons...

-never sat in one but strikes me the driving position is a littler higher than a sedan

-it has some measure of cargo capacity

-seems to have a reasonable reputation in terms of reliability

-and it can haul around 4 passengers

I tend to view the Caliber more as a mini minivan.

I actually like the CSRT. I just don't like the regular caliber.

I think the Orange CSRT is sick.

A couple friends have caliber SXTs. not a fan of the drive/ride/or interior. CSRT4 i sort of like the looks of, and that's about it.

it's actually one of the few hatches i don't really drool over

Totally agree! and that is why seeing the CSRT4 go sits with me pretty well. Hopefully this means we will get a Dodge 500 SRT4 aka arbath :D

I think i'd drive a CSRT4, its almost got this unattractive look about it, that it actually makes me think that it doesn't look too bad. I got to one point the more i looked at it the more i liked it. When I get a better job if a challenger or camaro is out of the question i'll be looking at SRT4s, and since people have abused the old NSRT4s, a C would start to look pretty attractive. My .02.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:DodgeCaliber.JPG

plus that looks pretty badass if I could ever replicate that.
