Lugnut QQ

Post by pyistazty » Thu May 20, 2010 12:04 pm

Like the title says, i was thinking wheels/tires but the subject of that didn't mention lug nuts or hardware at all...I have a problem with one of my lug nuts. One of the corners are rounded off and i can't get it off. I have a flat tire and am trying to get my donut on.

So basically I'm stuck up shit creek w/o a paddle, and I'm wondering if you guys know any tricks or w/e to get it off. Thanks.

So you can get the socket all the way on, but the lug is stripped? Or the lug is messed up and you can't get the socket on?

And if you didn't know where to put it you should've put it in general 2gn discussion.

Eh, they can move it if they want, cuz i can't now! lol... anyways.

I can get the lug on, but before i can really turn it, it just slides off because the edge is rounded off.

If it's rounded off enough, you might be able to beat a size smaller socket on and get it off, but it's doubtful.

I thought it was implied that everything related to wheels and tires went in that section (ie. lug nuts).

If you are using stock lugs with the cheap tin covers use some pliers to get the cover off and hammer on a 18mm socket. If that doesnt work then you might have to get one of these:

Either way you might lose a socket in the process because you might not be able to get the lug out of it afterwards.

Heh, ask biggrobb, he welded a nut onto a lugnut to get one off because it was stripped so bad.

That's what I used to get my stock lugnuts off my 98 when they were put on with an air gun, then stripped.
