Trans Shack, When Shifting...

Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

Trans Shack, When Shifting...

Post by strykr » Fri May 21, 2010 11:42 am

I just recently changed my car from atx to mtx and installed AGP Dogbone mounts, after getting used to driving the car more.. i have started to shift harder when playing around and notice when shifting (other then 4 and 5th) that if i hit the clutch in and out hard enough the transmission shacks and seems to make a rattling sound. I was wondering if that could be from the top mount not being properly aligned to 119mm or if it could be a problem with the transmission its self?

Also what is the Torque for the trans case to the block? I am pretty sure it was torqued to spec, I could just like to check it over this weekend and be 100% positive!

You are prolly getting shake from the engine support mount, and trans mount. This is only when hard shifting, and not sitting idling correct? a mis adjusted TS symptom is vibrations at idle, out of gear. In gear, you are loading one side or the other, so vibrations will transmit no matter what. Unless it is out enough the engine is contacting the body when you dump the clutch, it is prolly not the adjustment.
