Tire suggestions

Post by Haganracing » Fri May 21, 2010 10:31 pm

Ok guys, I am pretty much set on 205's for my snowflakes.. Just not sure about the sidewall.. either 55 or 50.

What I want to know is what tires do you guys like best.. I have been with Goodyear eagles (tire that was on car when bought..) Then I bought BFGoodrich Traction T/A and those by far are my favorite. Now the reason I am asking for suggestions is due to BFGoodrich is not producing these tires anymore

So what tires do you guys like??

Price range... not too pricey.. But 100 or less a tire would be nice.. I have to replace them before carlisle but need money FOR carlisle as well LOL

I agree with you frank, goodyear FTL. The only goodyear tires I like are the ones on the prowler.. They stick no matter what (but they are also 295's LOL)

i just put 205/50/15 cooper zeon on my car and love em... cost me 320 for all 4 mounted and balanced.. they were cheaper than 205/55 and just a smidge smaller than stock which gives it a bit better gear ratio.. everybit helps in my 3spd atx...

the white car pictured in here has 205/50 for reference.....

Thats pretty good, thanks for the info.

The one thing I am worried about is if it will look goofy on my car.

I have the car lowered right now, I love how the car sits (barely has a fender gap). Right now it is sitting on 185/75/15

So if I go with a smaller sidewall, I will end up getting a bigger fender gap again..

Kumho XS = GLUE.

I bought mine for $95/ tire. They only come in 205/50 in 15's though.

Dunlop Direzza 205 45 16 which I have been using for a while. And I have stuck with Dunlop tire for 4 years already and they were good though. But it's under Goodyear.

I am running 205/50/15 BFG SuperSport All seasons and they are nice. Once I burn thru these I will be going with Summer only (UHP or MP) and dedicated snow tires for the winter

One thing you need to ask yourself about buying tires is what do you want from the tire?
If you want performance, it won't last as long. A smooth and quiet ride won't hug the turns, and of course you're gonna have to sacrifice some red hot cornering if you want all-weather tires.

Personally i've had the Falken ZX 912's in 205/55/15, they stick well, but they DO NOT LAST LONG. This seems to be the problem with Falken tires, longevity is not their strong suit (and I mean about 30k). I just threw on some Bridgestone potenza A/S Pole Positions in 185/65/15 and am not terribly impressed.

I really want to go back to 205's so I'd say tire width is perfect, wall height I think you're okay with either 55 or 50 profiles.

Bump for update LOLOL

I'm going with some Kumho Ecsta ASX 205/55/15

They are decently cheap and all season which is what I need (i don't have an extra set of wheels for snow lol)

Those are decent tires, a buddy of mine has them on his Eclipse, in a 215/35/18 and they still do "OK" in the snow and rain.

I was gonna say go with 205/55/15. I have 205/50/15 and the sidewall is a little short and looks goofy.
