Cheap black housing headlights. Too good to be true. SCAM.

Post by sidepipe87 » Mon May 24, 2010 4:48 pm

I was looking for headlights on eBay and came across black housing headlights for cheap  I paid $76 shipped for these. Haven't seen them posted on here before for that price but the seller has 100% feedback and it says they have 4 more sets available so if anyone else needs black housings, here ya go  They don't take paypal which I thought was odd, but fuck paypal anyway. I paid by CC.

So this is either a great deal, or I just got royally screwed!

UPDATE: Got screwed... Seller has now done this to others.. Filed a complaint through my bank (paid via debit card) and got an instant refund and they are investigating the case.

 I know the quality of the lights they're the same as all the other eBay black housings. I'm just worried about getting ripped off.

Sorry Frank, I didn't know where to post this since it was kinda a heads up on a "deal". I just hope it ends up being legit. Just checked my bank account again and so far nothing fishy

For the price (by that, I mean not being ridiculously expensive), I'd even consider getting a coat or two of automotive clear on them just to make sure the finish stays nice and clear for a long time.

I'm not concerned about the quality at all.. I'm worried about NOT GETTING THEM/ getting scammed. I have eBay black housings on the car now and they're fine. A few fine chips from driving, but they're fine. I just wanted a NEW set to hack up for my retros. No point in spending all the time/money on retros and using less than perfect housings.

UPDATE: The emailed me today and said they shipped out so we'll see! Haven't seen any sketchy activity in my bank account yet either. Here's to hoping.

100% Feedback is now 81.5%. EVERYONE who bought headlights from him, regardless of what make/model never got them and the guy kept the money.

I just checked up on the link and saw all the negative feedback, and it's all for headlights. I did see his feedback at 100% initially when this thread was made.

Scary.

You know what Crystal.... It was 100% and I checked again.. They were ALL for him as a BUYER, never a SELLER... So fuck me. I was hesitant about this to begin with, and furthermore they didn't take PayPal which I thought was REALLY odd. ( I assume to try to stop people from filing claims) I forget what checkout service they used but it was legitimate, and I had to use a secure web site to do the transaction. I just filed a complaint online with PNC Bank to refund me for the fraudulent purchase and they already charged back the funds to my account. They said it may take up to 90 days to investigate the claim and I may have to fill stuff out. Whatever, that's fine as long as the claim holds and that is it. Even though I think they're just a scammer and it was a legit checkout method, and I've been checking my bank account for weird activity I may call the bank and get a new card issued to me just in case...

Crystal Thanks for the heads up! I was about to check back into this since it has been a week today.

Glad everyone else waited!

At least you got it all squared away. Your bank will probably have you fill out a few forms to prove your case, which shouldn't be too hard. If the bank gives you issues, Ebay backs you 100% on your purchases and will help you out in that regard also.
