Gulf Coast Oil Spill pictures

Post by LowNSlow » Wed May 26, 2010 5:28 am

It's a damn shame... pretty sad stuff.

It's going to mess with the entire coast quite a bit...I'm sure there is a thread on this already (havent seen it) but here are more recent pictures.

I was looking for oil slicks on my flight home as we were landing in New Orleans for a stopover, never did see any.

It's really awful that this happened, and BP, Transocean, and Halliburton are all pointing fingers at each other. Not to say that people at MMS are innocent either.

^^The majority of oil used in refining for gasoline in the US comes from Canada so events like this, the Middle East, etc. really shouldn't have any effect on gas prices here (but they always seem to). BP is also in the process of doubling the size of its refinery in Whiting, IN so this will help to keep future prices down.

I have been wondering how much cleaning up this mess will cost BP. No, I am not feeling sympathetic for any mega oil company- the massive profits of the last few years won't even be dented by these costs.

i was wondering this because i'm waiting for BP to jack prices up to gain back what they lost during this spill and the post cleanup. :cussing:

I have a feeling it won't just be BP taking the hit on this...

Hopefully, the federal government will do something to keep big oil from socking us consumers with the cleanup bill. But I'm probably hallucinating.

Well so far, all of the Gulf senators have failed in voting to lift the $75 million cap.
