And to think mine was totaled with far less damaged than that. I guess Progressive's body shop/adjuster didn't count on me buying the salvage. Nothing like legalized robbery.

Labor = 0
Parts are only going to cost around 200 because we have other parts laying around.
Paint = 300 or so for materials. Dad will paint it.

Can you buy a 2005 Neon with 61k for ~2500?

I say its worth it. If the girlfriend doesnt like it you can always sell it for 4 or 5 grand and buy something else.

deffently worth it.

i do this for a living.

you can buy a low mile neon for 200 - 500 at the auctions and spend maybe 1500 on parts plus your labour.

as long as the car isnt hit to bad there worth fixing. things to stay away from is diamond in the body. side hits ( can be very difficult to pull out) and always look beyond the damaged area for wrinkles.

not sure if its the same in the states or not with brands on cars but at least here you try to stay away from branded cars. even tho i can sign them off and put them back on the road it will always say its was rebuilt and there hard to sell. and not to mention the head ache of paper work that goes along with getting them back on the road.

Not with an R Title. My brother's 05 has same miles and nobody's bitten on it for 5k. It's clean too.

I like the Stone White.

Even selling it for 4k would yeild a 1500 profit.

She plans on keeping and modding it.

I like the stone white also.

Rebuilt Salvage = take book/fair market, and about half is what the "value" is. An insurance company will pay out even less than that.

Their take on it is that you/someone was already paid for the value of the car when totaled, so they will not pay out again.

My spin is, OK, I got that $, but if I use it to get another car, and it gets totaled, then why do they pay in full for that one, since I used the same $ that I would have fixed the R salvage to buy the other car. In their "logic" I am still getting paid twice. Just a different car is all.
