well tomorrow is my g/f b-day and i had planned on installing the lambo door kit that was supose to be here friday but never showed up. so instead i did some repair work to her front bumper and finished her sub enclosure. heres the pics
the sub box was built with a original trunk liner the i soaked in resin in order to get the perfect fit into the trunk. i then stretched fleece over the speaker rings i cut. and thats the final result. i also used spray foam in the inside to help seal the corners and also dense the back wall. theres a peice of carpet the over lays the front and covers the top of the strut and in behind the rear seats just to finsih it off.
she drove the car all winter and ended up hitting a parking curb and a few other things ( not the greatest at parking) and the bumper was purchased already primmed. only problem was they never used a decent primmer so the primmer was cracking under the paint.
i stripped the bumper and sealed it and painted it today i couldnt use th booth at work so i did it in my lane way. the result was actually pretty decent there 3 lil black flies the landed in the final coat of clear that i can buff out tomorrow and you will never notice.

Damn bro.. that sub box came out great.. Smart thinking of using the trunk carpet as the base.. That'll definitely make it fit like a glove..

That sub box came out fantastic!
What are you doing with the sides once you get a duraflex rear?

i have to do some fiberglass work to make the sides flare into the duraflex rear to make everything flow together. she gets all these parts and forgets that i have to do all the work to install them and make them work. i cant complain tho pretty sweet having my g/f do car shows with me. just wish i could get work done on my projects LOL

nope bolted them right on.
well monday her birthday gift arrived so i spent the night 630 - 1 am installing and tonight from 5 - 730 soldering the wires for the doors.
the kit wasnt bad to install only had to grind the mounting bracket down in order for the door to sit in flush and a few minor tweaks. the only other issue was the gas shock is way to powerful for the weight of the doors so i loaded some lead weights in the door bottoms until the new shocks arrive.
she had no idea what i got her for her birthday she spent 5 min walking around the car trying to figure out what i did to it before i told her to open the door. door popped open and raised up and the screaming and jumping started. probably one of the biggest surprises.

Nice progress there. I like the trunk box idea as that was one of my first ones but I was gonna do one on either side.LOL.
I went a different route. Its in my progress log not sure if you have seen it.

The trunk setup is on page 4. Where are you planning on putting the amps and stuff. Im curious to see your final design. Keep up the good work!!

going to fiber glass the other side and mount the amp in it. but i want to get some work on my own done so she might have to wait for the amp to get finished.
everything done to her car is her idea and almost all the parts have been bought from the neon canada forum, srt forum, and here. over all i think its a nice looking car and could be a total show car if i ever get to spend the time and do the body work on it and give it a full custom paint job but for now she has to drive it daily so it has some door dings and light scratches.

buh...not a big fan of lambo doors after putting some on a guys civic in trade school. It didnt have enough clearance in the fender and when we opened the door for the first time the arm on the hinge ripped a hole in his fender....twice... good thing we were doing collision repair and refinishing, bring on the bondo!

haha yeah lambos are a pain unless you know what your doing. i use to do custom work for a living now i just work for a body shop. im going to modify the lambos and use the horizontal shocks so the door will be able to open 90* vertical but not till she buys her winter car and i tear that one down to the shell and do all the work needed.
but atleast now i get to pull the tranny from my neon project this weekend and get my new clutch and release bearing fork.

Very nicely done job on both the sub enclosure and the front end.
