FS Bellevue WA 2002 Neon ACR- 3000 OBO (Anyone?)

Post by Damnit, Laverty » Thu Jun 03, 2010 6:18 am

Seller: Matt Laverty
Location: Bellevue, WA
Preferred Payment: Real money, in person.
Contact mail: m.laverty@gmail.com.
Feedback: Been on .org since '99 i'm sure there's a feedback thread somewhere, ebay feedback 100 percent (mattlaverty)

The Cliff's Notes:
71,8xx miles, manual transmission, CD player, clean title, red, reliable and mechanically sound!
VIN: 1B3AS66F12D633357
Please contact me via the above email with any questions you may have or to schedule a viewing/test drive.

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking "Wait a tick! What the fuck, Laverty! Didn't you just buy this in April for 2 grand, and now you want double that? Not cool, dude! Not cool!" Here's the deal. When I bought it in April, it was on expired tabs, didn't pass smog, had a busted windshield, and no interior. Now it's tagged, smogged, has a new windshield, a full interior, it's comfortable to drive, and a car i'd feel okay letting anyone drive. Before it was somewhat of a basket case, and that's been sorted now! I'm also not firm on the price, but I needed a starting point, so I went for around Fair KBB pricing. Anyhow, i'm just gonna paste my Craigslist ad below. :)

The Backstory:
I bought this car a month and a half ago off of neons.org; needed a car while my other car was in the shop. Once I bought it, I put a few repairs and some maintenance into it, and now I'm ready to let it go. This car's been reliable the whole time I had it, it's up for anything you can throw at it! I'd feel perfectly safe putting any number of miles on this car, I've put on nearly three thousand miles since buying the car in mid-April without a hitch. Title's clear, in my name. No lien on the car. Believe it or not, I hate to let this car go. Driveway is too full, and something's gotta give. I've been having a blast driving it around. All my friends think i'm insane for having so much fun with this car, especially now that my other car's back but ya know what? It's a blast! I love the fact that it's so multipurpose. It'll haul things around one moment, but then dive into a corner the next. It's quick, sounds good, and is just way too entertaining to drive. The ACR package ensures that you get the high output engine with the higher final drive ratio (3.94 vs. 3.55), making for a much peppier Neon than you'd expect.

The good!
2.0l "Magnum" High-Output SOHC engine. 150hp/132lb-ft torque stock. Not the normal Neon engine!
Keyless entry and alarm plus Sentry Key system.
New tires at 67k
New timing belt, water pump, coolant flush at 68k
New rear brakes at 69k
New windshield at 70k
New battery at 71k

The meh!
Check engine light comes and goes, but it passed emissions in April, so it's good for two more years! (CEL is for running rich at low RPMs.)
Car has some light damage to the rear bumper cover.
There's a few door dings here and there.
No front airbags, but the side airbags are still in.

The modifications!
The car comes with a few aftermarket parts, its a pretty quick little car!
CraneCams camshaft: Specs- http://cranecams.com/?show=browseParts& ... r=158-0014
AEM intake
Kenne-Bell PCM reflash
SRT-4 shocks
Eibach lowering springs
SRT-4 shifter
Passenger airbag delete pocket
Flowmaster muffler

The ratings!
Interior: 9/10
Exterior: 8/10
Engine: 9.5/10

The disclaimers!
Car is sold as-is with no warranty, express or implied.
All information disclosed is true to the best of my knowledge.
No, I won't take a cashier's check for more than the car costs.
I'm open to trades, if by trades you mean you'll trade me cash for my car!
No, i don't want to trade my car for your car, bike, ATV, boat, scooter, handgun, paintball marker, or XBox.
No really, don't waste my time. I'm not cashing a check and keeping the difference.
Trespassers will be violated.
Driver carries no cash.
If you keep making that face, it'll stick that way.

And yeah, the wheel was in the car when I bought it. it's total swap meet louie, some eBay thing. Note i didn't call it a Bride wheel. lol. :)

LOL, I'm the car guy, not the track guy. :P We did make one change to the dragstrip at one point though.

And yes, normally there's duals, and they're heavy. PO replaced the muffler with what looks to be a flowmaster. :)

Not to burst your bubble, but your Neon is worth about $2,000. 8-[

No bubbles burst here.

According to KBB it's worth 39. Locally, there isn't one on CL for under 5500 for any '02 Neon, and all of those are over 100k. :)

Realistically, I've been a Neon owner for 11 years, I do understand where you're at though. Figure I gotta try and make a buck. I figure i've got way better odds of selling it locally on CL than the forums, but figure I gotta try. :)

No rust at all. I just did the rear brakes on it, there wasn't even corrosion on anything down there. I love NW cars. :)

I can get pics though. it's parked at work, i'll snap some tomorrow/Monday.

Forgot to snap pics! I'll grab 'em in the morning, now that i'm driving it again.

So yeah, want this to move next week.

Anyone interested at 3?

Just passed 72k miles.
I took out the aftermarket wheel, replaced it with an '03+ SXT wheel. 3 spoke, airbag.

Saw that, let me know what you come up with. :) Where in CA are you? I might be headed down to Laguna Seca in August, we could likely meet.

Actually, I found one somewhere back east on CL with I think a blown engine for $1,500.

Your car was listed on CL its gone now.

As a Neon owner previous and you are one as well, you know good and well getting anywhere near KBB is best to bust a dealers chops for trade-in value closer to KBB than to expect known skin flint Neon fans/owners to pony up what its really worth. They will low ball you and have no shame at all.

On one hand it means cheap cars are available, on the other it means a whole set of problems for the Neon community that I won't mention as I don't want to turn this into something other than you trying to sell your car and get a small profit.

Maybe that's because he had it on CL back on June 3, when he created this thread. Read the dates...

Second, how does KBB value relate to lowballers, and/or not being Neon-fanatics? People do it no matter what it is, parts or cars, because they are cheap. If they weren't, they wouldn't try to get something for nothing.
