Right now, I own my 2002 R/T, a 1995 NYG Sport Coupe, a 1989 Shelby CSX-VNT and a 1989 Turbo Caravan five speed. I also might be picking up a 1995 Sport Sedan with roof racks for a winter beater.
Anyways, I was surfing craigslist and I stumbled on an ad for a 2002 Chrysler Neon R/T that had been sitting for two years. I never really thought about a 2gn but I figured I might be able to get a decent deal. There was not much information in the ad, no price, no kms or anything like that. I e-mailed them asking for some more info and got a responce letting me know it was silver with a sunroof, traction control, compass/temp mirror and leather and under 100,XXX kms. I told him over the phone I would take the car sight unseen, so I sold my 1998 Neon EX coupe that I was driving to buy the R/T.
I set up a time to go see the car, and well I was pleasently surprised on the deal I got. The car only had 59,XXX kms on it and is in great shape. The car was dirty from sitting, but no dents or anything like that. I handed over the cash and got the car towed home. The best part is the price, I picked the car up for $1000 and the guy paid for the tow to my house, so it was $950!!!
Once home, I found some interesting things on the car. It has poly filled mounts, boogers, Crane cams ignition wires, monster swaybars and K&N drop in filter. It also has a really nice set of Toyo Proxie 4's with about 80% tread.
The guy was in University, bought the car new and did some autocrossing with it through the University sports car club. He graduated in 2006 and drove the car until 2008 when he bought a new Subaru Legacy and parked the R/T.
I drained the gas, oil, coolant, and flushed the brakes and changed the plugs and PCV valve and fired it up for the first time. It runs great, and everything works as it should. I've been driving it for a couple of weeks and it has grown on me. I installed a SRT-4 shifter and boot and that's about it so far. I've also ordered a CAI and a rear strut bar for the car. After that is some lowering.
I've been looking around and there isin't much in the way of aftermarket stuff. What else can I do for a bit more power but keeping it N/A?
Any feedback is welcome!!
