WTF??
Ok... This will be the 3rd, yes-3rd time in 6 months I’ve had to change my spark plugs.
It misfires in the lower RPM range. Most noticeable when I come out of first gear. The computer never pops up and tells me a code.
I changed the spark plugs with the plugs about a month ago and just recently changed the spark plugs again a few days ago. I understand getting 1 bad spark plug when you buy them but 3 sets in 6 months is a bit over board.
When I change them I look at them to see if they are gapped correctly and to see if I can see anything abnormal about them but they are fine. No carbon build up, no odd colorization, no oil. Can anyone figure out why she is going through spark plugs like candy?. I know it’s not the wires? Can the PVC valve be doing this? I figure it’s the plugs because when I put a new set the problem goes away for a bit? Dumbfounded in Albuquerque, Will....

i have the same issue. it is noticable in all gears at below 2500 rpm or so. my plugs are 12000 miles old. i have a set of wires sitting at my parents house and i was going to change them this weekend. i too am running champs with the stock .035 gap. (.35 is 35 hundreths, .035 is 35 thousandths <----is the correct one) ill post on after i change them to tell if the problem has gone away. if it doesnt i was thinking of trying ngk copper plugs.

...i had alot of stuttering problems when all i did was exhaust, CAI, plug wires, and UDP - not like it was dying on me but whenever i hit the gas she would stut-stut-stut-stutter then go like a bat outta hell - and i was having cold start issues, someone told me to upgrade to NGK iridium plugs and thwey have been perfect - especially after the screamin' demon coil pack...
i don't know if that helps...

Sorry .035.... Reason is that when the car does act like shit my gas milage SUCKS... The only mods I have on my car are custom exhaust and a DIY CAI.. Nothing more.. I guess I can try different types of plugs to see what happens next time it pops up.. It's not doing now but it will.. I just can't figure out why it does it.. Still under warranty. If it does it again I will take it to the dealer and tell them it does it alot.. Just don't want them to tell me some stupid shit like my exhaust or my CAI is causing it.. I would porbably bitch slapp that person and that will just make matters worse for me..

well i changed the plug wires, they were some that my dad got off the internet cheap. the were $30 or so. now my little issue is gone. in your first post you said that you know the wires are good, what qualifies this statement? my car has 37000 miles on it and even though they are not due until 60000 miles they seem to be the problem. i will drive 500 miles over the next week so we will see if the problem stays away. if it doesnt then ill put the stock wires back on and change to new ngk plugs.

if the plugs look fine, how do you determine they have gone bad? is it always a specific cylinder that does it or is it all of them? next time you replace them, or if you still have the old ones, try to swap them in one by one and start the car to see which one causes this. no reason for the car to f up like that all the time...maybe if you can also post a pic of the old plugs after you took out before...

Probably a cylinder one misfire. Very common, my R/T did it. The fuel injector is probably bad or dirty. Try that first.
Then replace the plugs and wires, and MAKE SURE you use dielctric grease on the wires, especially the ones that go into the plug tubes! The 2.4 motor is known to have misfires due to the sparc is actually coming from the plug wire and arcing in the tubes.

I think I still have the old ones.. Just in case it started to do it again I was gonna replace one by one. I did not put the grease on any of them. I had the Cyl #1 missfire when I chnged the plugs the first time. Ever since then I have been having this problem. Seems to be acting fine now, but I'm sure it will pop up again. Thanks for all the info guys..

I put in NGK Iridiums and I stopped eating plugs. New wires helped too (I've had MSD's since the day after I drove it off the lot)
You next step would be wires since changing the plugs constantly obviously isn't helping..after that comes the coil pack...
