Post by LaidNeon » Tue Jun 22, 2010 4:17 am

Some of you 4x4 guys will appreciate this.....i picked up a York Compressor this past weekend, so the plan is to adapt this to my motor. This will be my complete build thread so stay tuned for updates as i get parts & stuff made for this. In the next couple of days i will knock out a simple design for the mount & go from there.

[ ] V-Belt Combo Pulley (alternator)
[ ] V-Belt

I'd be curious to see if you can get a 6 or 7 rib serp belt pulley, whichever matches you truck, and line it up. I think it would look pretty sweet if it was all one belt like an OEM would do.

i could, but a new clutch will run 150 bucks or so. im trying to keep spending down to a minimum to see if i can do this cheaper then buying another dual pack of compressors for 350

That'll be pretty sweet, Dan. I think I caught a fleeting glimpse of your truck in person yesterday if you were on Hwy 3 about 6:30ish. Hard to miss a big ass Ram that color slammed to the ground. Hehehe.

isn't that just a modified A/C compressor?
So instead of being lubed with refrigerant and oil it actually uses regular air tool oil for lube?
Can't you just mod your stock a/c compressor to do this?
Can't wait to see the progress.........

isn't that just a modified A/C compressor? Yes it is. The Yorks design makes it easier to use as an air pump with little modification. this york is actually from a 1967 Impala

So instead of being lubed with refrigerant and oil it actually uses regular air tool oil for lube? 10w30 Motor oil will be fine

Can't you just mod your stock a/c compressor to do this? the design of 134 compressors make it tougher to do, plus i still want to use my A/C in the truck lol

This is TX, A/C is not a want, it's a NEED. Especially at this time of year. ;)

Tell me about it.

You are asking to die if you don't have A/C in Texas.

I drive with my A/C off.... just roll down the drivers side front window and i'm good to go. But I like the heat since we don't have that much humidity

I can't stand humidity, my AC is on nearly all the time in summer. I can't imagine how bad it is down south...

Can't wait for progress on this!

yeah humidity is killer down here.......got a template made up for part of the bracket i need to make. One more mounting hole will be made after the metal is cut. it needs a spacer so i can bolt it up with the bottom bracket for the A/C compressor.

Looks good dan

I figured that your engine bay was doing to have some of the exterior color in there.

Neverless, your truck looks great

in all honesty, i didnt want the engine bay color matched. i have always like it when the hot rod guys left their engine bays black. in fact, my engine bay stock wasnt color matched now that i think about it lol. it wasnt the same black that was on the exterior
