Car wobbles on grooved pavement

About a month ago I did a 2500 mile trip with the Neon... from Canada down to Texas.
Tires inflated correctly, alignment just done this spring, front end inspection and parts replaced... so I think the front end on mine is in good shape.
The first time I experienced the wobble on American roads it scared the shit out of me as I was driving on the interstate thru Duluth with some heavy traffic about mid-afternoon.
I have noticed the same wobble with larger vehicles but somehow it was less scary in those.
I was doing about 60 mph.
