eclipse 420a head

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

eclipse 420a head

Post by nofreonneon » Mon Jul 05, 2010 7:52 pm

normally i wouldn't ask a question like this: but i have a reason for it.
will the 420a head of a eclipse DOHC work on my 2gn 04' sohc.
I ask since i have the turbo system for a eclipse, and didn't want to change alot of piping......i can use a whole donor car off an eclipse in the junk yard...thanks...

Not without alot of changes. If at all.

A couple people have Avenger heads, not sure if they are the exact same.

In the past I have put a DOHC onto an SOHC motor, is was alot of work, even for the neon to neon ...but I have 100% knowledge and experience.......in that situation....again..this as you noted is a pretty big project, but i figure short of running up to the parts store to grab a few pieces of air intake hoses, so I can cut as I go and radiator hoses...its not that bad....if it will match up head/block, is my concern.

The DOHC and SOHC manifolds have completely different bolt patterns on neon heads. Who knows what the 420a manifolds looks like. Not to mention, the piping will be meant to go to the front of the engine, not the rear.

Sell the parts over on .org. Make sure you say it's for a 420aDOHC motor. It'll probably sell over there faster.

You probably wouldn't have much luck here compared to there. All SOHC here for the most part (srt excluded).
