srt-4 tranny questionsz

ok so i just picked up an srt-4 trans mission and i was told it was an 03 but there is a manufactured date that says 04 how do i know if it has the lsd in it or not i dont want to open it up either

oh yeah and i only paid 100 bucks for it lol

does it have a serial number or something like that stamped on it? maybe you can call a dodge dealer with the number and they'll be able to tell you. just guessing here.

yeh i tried that today too and they are absolutly no help at all they want me to bring it in and then charge me for the help so i just hung up on them.

that would be helpfull if i had a t350 but i have the t850 and needed to figure out if it was an lsd. ok quick question ii i soin one axles if the other goes the same way then its and lsd but if it goes the oppisite way its not. im assuming as last night after getting so frustrated at myself i was playing with the trans when i noticed that.

also this is sticky worthy:

those who are doing srt swaps but are not using a2.4l bottom end have to find a way to move the alternator out of the way so the half shaft can fit i will be posting up y project when i get into it more

uh dude theres a tab at the bottom of that table for the t-850 which brings up info just on the srt trans

You can't use the half-shaft setup on a 2.0. You can use it on a regular 2.4 block. You have to run a PT style alternator.

can't you use a pt axle or are they all equal length?

i can do it on a 2.0 but you need to fab
a. bracket to hold halfshaft
b. pt alternator bracket needs to ba fab also

so yes it can be done even if your not super mechanical it can be done

but then it comes down to ones want for a srt powerd 2.0 one has to ask them selve is it worth it in there daily... to me no i will venture into this once i have a nother neon to play with.
