does a cherry bomb sound good on a 05 sxt

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

A cherry bomb will sound good. However, if you use one as your primary muffler, I recommend going with a longer one, say 26-30", to keep the noise levels reasonable. Most people replace the stock muffler with an SRT rear section (straight pipe dual exit) and toss a glasspack such as a cherry bomb in the midpipe.

If you do, it will be very loud. There is really no point in doing that, since the SRT midpipe is the same diameter as non SRT exhaust (2.25"). The only real difference is the resonator setup in the midpipe and the rear section. Save your money and just buy the rear section, weld in a muffler of your choice in the midpipe, and have a decent exhaust for about $100.

Short answer: no, it will sound like complete dogshit.

Long answer: get an R/T rear section, sound good, reasonable, and very easy to find used and in good shape.

don't do the glasspack, it does not quiet it down enough and they blow out very quickly, or atleast it did on my R/T.....
Now there is a member on here with the Moroso Spiral flow muffler, but I do not recall if there was ever any sound clips posted or not....

do it, they sound good if you use a longer one like OB suggested, but it all depends on the sound you are looking for

The thread shares different point of views on whether to get a glasspack cherry bomb or not. I don't like it to be too loud. Still confused ???

The only way to find out if you'll like the sound is to listen to soundclips.

Disconnect your muffler, and imagine it slightly quieter. That is what a GP will sound like.

I have a glasspack/srt rear section setup on my gf's 05 and it sounded great until recently. Four years down the road and I think it's starting to wear out. It's been louder than normal lately, so it may be time to spend another $30 and be good for another couple years. I'm also considering the Spiral flow but I don't know if the tone will be right.

I suggest a setup that is meant for a NA neon, and not just a glasspack and open pipes. and you can't go wrong for only $297 here

here's a dynomax catback 2.5" that is similar to the F-body V6 muffler, and all other upgrades on it that i have listed below and in my garage, on the rollers so you know kinda what it sounds like on the street, i know the rollers are really loud so you can't hear the exhaust until it goes WOT, but that's what youre really interested in anyway.

long clip was taken during the warm-up

short clip with a pull at the end

I'm not sorry that they were both shot w/ a blackberry so they are 1.3 MP and shitty sound (and the sound on here is more true to life than another clip of the exhaust i have floating around here anyway). if you guys don't like it then you can paypal me $75 to go get another one done and i'll will shot it w/ a camera!
