Daily Driver Rebuild

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Daily Driver Rebuild

Post by JFTL » Mon Jul 19, 2010 6:11 pm

Hey All,

Been a LOOOOONNGG time since I've posted on here, or done much to my 2gn except drive it. My 2002 has 200,000 + miles, has the usual lifter noise inheirant to these cars, and is starting to consume oil between oil changes. I'm going to start putting together the funds to rebuild the engine (though I will likely get the clutch done first as it's the original  ). I was wanting some advice on what is a good, daily driveable direction to go, while still giving the car a little more "oomph". I'm looking into getting a port and polish done on the head and MAYBE a cam. I've also heard something about using the bottom end from a DOHC 1gn motor?

The car currently has a UDP, drop in K&N, Magnum exhaust Mani, and a turbo resonator in place of the stock muffler. Going to be putting a PT clutch in with a STS, Jonnymopar and booger inserts.

Thanks!
