Idle issue?

I have an issue, my car is idling higher than normal, usually it idles at about 600 rpm but now is idleing around 1000 rpm. Also when my car is rolling in nuetral to a stop it stays idling around 1500-2000 rpms till i stop and thengoes down to 1000 rpms after a few seconds. Does anyone know what this might be? I checked to see if there was any interferance with the gas pedal and nothing there. I also checked the throttle body and all looks good there. Any ideas? Thanks to anyone who can help.

any vacuum leaks?
My car does the same thing when coasting to a stop but I have different reasons for my high idle....

Vacuum leak or stuck IAC. Double check all of your lines. One might be unplugged or maybe cracked. If that fails, don't forget to check intake manifold gasket, IAC gasket, map sensor o-ring, and the screw clamps on the bellows tube.

the only possible vaccum leak is the is this viewtopic.php?t=52067 i posted that a few days ago but everyone says it was the heater vaccum line could that have anything to do with it?

possibly since it is a vacuum leak. Feel around with your hand around the intake,TB,hoses...listen for a high pitched hissing noise, when your hand passes the noise it will change tone....

You want to replace that check valve, or plug the hole somehow. It is prolly part of the problem, and it is sucking unfiltered air into your engine.

i had to find out that my iac fucked up!

It wasnt the IAC it was an old cracked rubber vaccum line the one that plugs into the side of the valve cover i didnt see it because it was cracked on the bottom but replaced that and fixed the heating vaccum line and all is well again.

Sorry to bump this, but my car is doing this now, too. Fuck, it's getting older... Do you think the fact that I removed my vacuum line from the air intake to the back of the valve cover, plugged the intake tube's hole, and put a breather on the back of the valve cover could be causing it? Or is it most likely the PCV valve (which was your problem)?

The line on the back of valve cover being disconnected will not effect the idle. Check for vacuum leaks(should be able to hear it hissing). The pcv hose will make the idle high if it has even a slight leak, so check it first. if you find nothing, i would take the TB off and clean it and the IAC and see if that doesn't help. Sometimes the throttle plate gets so dirty, it won't close all the way, The IAC will suffer from the same issue if its dirty.
