ACM Chip or Fuel Injectors?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

ACM Chip or Fuel Injectors?

Post by DuhNeon179 » Fri Jul 30, 2010 11:14 pm

I have been debating this for a few weeks. I have an '03 stock SXT. Should I go with an ACM Chip, or Fuel Injectors? I don't want to turbo it because IMO turbocharging an automatic SXT is a bit stupid. What do you guys think? Or should I just keep it stock? I'm already putting in a CAI. This a bad idea? stupid idea? It's mainly a show car not for racing or anything.

bigger injectors won't do shit on a stock neon. they run rich as it is.

Neither will do anything. For the $ spent on either, you may as well get a 60mm TB, and at least have a little better throttle response.

get the 60mm throttle body, a nice k&n filter for your airbox and remove the big plastic resonator in the fenderwell.. same effect and sound as cai, and save some cash...

but you say your going for show so the CAI will look pretty, but wasted on an automatic.. been there done that, made my atx slower.... and i have an 01 3spd..

you have an 03 so the computer is gonna balance out whatever you put on it anyway so its all for looks at that point.. from what i understand about the 03+ computers.. NGC or whatever its called..

As long as you don't get a MAP/TPS correlation code, a 60mm TB will give some increase in throttle response/power. More air in, means it has to adjust with more fuel. More air and fuel means more power. There isn't much NGC can do to cancel that out. The CEL is a random problem with '03/'04 NGC. Some ppl get it, and some don't.

If the risk of a CEL bothers you, Summit Racing sells a 56mm BBK V6 Mustang TB for around the cost of the Lorenzo or MPX unit, but you would need to do all the same mods/adapter to it as the 60mm Mustang TB, except the TPS is a bolt on. But it will cost more for the finished product, and I don't think anyone has went this route to see if the CEL sill happens.

An UDP may free up a little power, but IDK if it is noticeable on an ATX.

Unless you manage to score an ATX AFX unit used, or order one new from Howell, and wait months.....

The NGC AF/X seems to be a fail anyways, so it matters not.
