weird starting issue

Post by silversport » Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:00 pm

Ok well when I start the car is starts right up, goes up to about 1200 I think then when it starts going back down to idle it seems to go too far and dies? this all happeneds with in the like 2 second start up. WTF is wrong? Also I try and start it again right after it dies and it stays idling fine

IAC valve maybe. This little valve is attached to the throttle body. It opens at idle to allow some air in to keep the car ideling. It's really simple to take off and clean. My car wouldn't idle either. I took it off and cleaned the gunk off of it and it idles fine now. Worth a try.

Ill try that thanks! I paid more attention to what was going on and it seems like it doesn't go to fast idle?

Try hitting the throttle just before it dies. If it picks back up, it's almost certainly an issue with the IAC.

When you see the price, you will gladly try cleaning it.

The only time to breakdown and buy a new one, is when the coil shorts or fails open, and the PCM starts setting the CEL.

$110 ish is the Vaseline amount required.

Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.
