My friend's "woody" Civic

Post by LilSparkPlug » Mon Aug 09, 2010 4:21 pm

A friend of mine here in RI has an 8th Gen SI coupe that's black. This poor Civic's paint has been through the ringer due to good old Mother Nature and the hood started to rust and bubble up around some stone chips. He sanded the hood down and decided that until he can paint it this was going to be the style he would rock.

Car is slammed on coils with gram lights and retrofitted headlights, I/H/E, front lip etc.

very interesting. IMHO, i think it would work better with a teal green paint job or something of the surfboard style...

Outside of that, it looks nice, and the work looks superb!

Love it in the engine bay and hood...not sure about the roof and trunk though. Props to him for trying something new!

Yep. People have done woody hoods and shit quite a bit lately. The brighter, "prettier" colors pull it off better, but at least he's brought it into a "modern" vehicle and carried the theme throughout. I give it a thumbs upppppp.

Is it some sort of vinyl? Laminate MAYBE? It looks kind of cool but I agree that it wood look better on a sea foam green car.

I like it. Though I do agree that it would work better on a lighter-colored car.

Still a pretty cool look! I quite like the engine bay.

It's $5 contact vinyl from Walmart. Like I said it was done on a budget, just to cover things up until he paints the car. His plans are matte black and to paint the gram lights championship white. Not sure if he's leaving the hood and trunk, he wasn't sure if it would be too much. This is actually the first I've seen any of this done I didn't know a bunch of other cars have done it prior.

idk, woodgrain on the interior is one thing, but I have not heard of anyone doing it on the exterior, definitely something different...
