Post by Pablodragon » Sun Aug 22, 2010 4:48 pm

anyone ever try to zoom in on Google Earth on a local scrap yard to try and see if there were any Neons to ravage?

not true... if you update to the latest version, you can actually access a "time line"... that gives you pics based on a date and year...

looked at my house and they have the new updates I did to my deck as of about a month ago

P.S. I'm not talkin about accessing pics from Google maps on line, I'm talkin about the actual program 'Google Earth' that you download...

You should stop watching CSI or such...

Just gave it a shot, and it showed me at work on July 1, 2010 with the downloaded program. Good idea to search junkyards that way... but unless you can find out a way of getting the information from right now, it's kind of pointless. Who cares if a junkyard had a Neon on July 1, I need to know if it's still there, ya know?

Or here's a kick ass idea...the phone book! I have every junkyard within 50 miles in my speed dial/address book. As a matter of fact they know me by name at some of them

Good luck. Around here, if it's a u-pull-it they tell you that you have to come and look for yourself.

So since they have no clue of their inventory, you could just chuck the whole car over the fence, and pick it up later. They would never know.... :D

I used google map the other day to find where were going in Queens, ny and they had street view pics like you were standing there looking around.. I hadn't seen or used it before, I thought it was neat, but it totally blew my father away (won't touch the computer type)

of course like stated, if it was current pics it would be nice.

"Real time" images are pretty much reserved for the military, and those that can afford to pay.

And I'm not sure it is even available to paying customers anymore. I know a few years back I looked into it, and it was a ridiculous amount per month to subscribe. And it might have only been as new as a few days, not real time. Been too long to remember exactly. Found what I needed to know. And ran like a sticker shocked bitch.

He-Man'ing stuff over the fence usually gets noticed, but unless you are bigger than the heavers, you didn't see a damn thing.

Back in the day at tech school, I noticed a complete snow plow with frame, pump, etc attached, fall from the sky on the opposite side of the 10 foot fence it used to reside on. Damn lucky thing it didn't hit the two guys on the inside of the fence.

To this day I still wonder how the hell they did it. I sure as hell wasn't asking. I just closed the door as I backed back into the building.

I figured if they could get that behemoth up 10 feet two inches, and some forward distance, I didn't want to see how high I could go without a parachute.
