Torque Strut Recommendations?
I'm looking for a decent "stock" replacement brand for the engine torque struts.
Anyone have experience with the Napa ones? Any other preferred brands? The stealership near me wants almost $100 each for the upper and lower torque struts.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Torque strut is the proper name for them.stdlystdmufn wrote:you mean motor mounts?
I still have the original ones, with inserts, so I can't give a recommendation.

well i wouldn't pay $200 for stock when the dogbones cost $140 now. check here. but if you really want stock sometimes they pop up around here for sale or ebay. i sold mine a couple months ago for $40 for upper and lower w/ only 50k miles on them.

Yeah AGP's mounts are fantastic, very high quality. They're about 100% stiffer than stock though, so be prepared for some extra vibration in the cabin.

Unfortunately, I picked up some inserts quite a while ago....so I was planning on using the inserts with whatever torque struts I buy....my old ones are completely shot.
I suppose I could try to sell the inserts that I have.
What about the AGP's....is it rubber or poly in those? Do we have a part number for replacement poly bushings for use in the AGP's?
Just curious. I don't know what I'm gonna' do yet.
Thanks.

The ? is, will the inserts work with an aftermarket TS? They may change the rubber insert just enough to screw you. Heck, DCX did it with oem trans mounts...

Thanks for the suggestion. I forgot all about rockauto.com. I'll probably end up doing the same thing....then pick up the AGP's after another 100,000 miles.Forest Green 2k wrote:I bought replacement motor mounts from rockauto.com for under 20 bucks a peice and put in "race" inserts from Modern. Mine were tough because I don't think the rubber inside the mounts were exactly OEM specs. Nothing some PB Blaster and a rubber mallet can't fix. I'd rather have them be tough to get in anyways, more stability, right?darthroush wrote:My inserts went right in. Cutting out the flashing material certainly makes it easier.

HOWEVER.....they are SOOOOO worth it.
It will be one of the best & most useful tools you can invest in.
Generally, unless they actually break on you, it will last for years and years and years, so you only need to buy it once.
